New to Group with some questions

I've been reading the posts for the last few weeks and really appreciate

everybody's advice and helpfulness.

I've been struggling with a large fibroid and a couple of small ones for several

years now and trying to avoid surgery. I just had a hysterosonagram today to

check the size from a year ago and the big fibroid increased a small amount to

13.9 cm X 13.0 cm X 10 cm. Other than having very heavy bleeding filling 18 to

20 Kotex overnight pads a period and some slight anemia (I take lots of iron),

and a protruding abdomen, it doesn't really cause pain. I was wondering what

some of you take to help with the bleeding? I tried the 3 Advil four times a day

and didn't have any cramps during my period but it didn't seem to help the

bleeding much. I've also been on Chinese herbs from the acupuncturist and take

capsules called Yunnan Pai Yau for the bleeding during the period. (This was

used in Vietnam to stop bleeding from wounds, and is supposedly very effective.)

When I asked the doctor today if he could suggest anything for the bleeding he

gave me a script for Provera and said it may or may not help. I looked it up in

the PDR and it has some potentially awful side effects. Has anyone tried this?

Any help would be appreciated.
