Guest guest
Nope, stick with my clo. Allyn _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of frumpyhead Sent: Monday, February 27, 2006 3:12 PM Subject: CLO vs fish oil in the spring Hello, I'm almost out of the CLO that I've been taking all winter. I'm wondering if most people on this list switch over to fish oil after the weather warms up? If it's nice out, I try to spend at least an hour or so during the week outside, and longer on the weekends. I've always stopped taking CLO in the summer, but I haven't heard anyone on here mention it. Is that not recommended? Thanks, Judy

Guest guest
Judy, Everyone taking CLO year round here has never had issues. Dr. Mercola did. Don't remember what he did instead. Did see a National Geographic special few years back about a tribe in the far south of South America near Antarctica. Woman seemed to be talking about CLO. She said she'd been taught, told by elders, tradition to only take it in the winter otherwise they'd get sick. Wanita > Hello, > I'm almost out of the CLO that I've been taking all > winter. Guest guest
I think that it is to take CLO in the winter and fish oil in the summer to prevent a Vit D overdose. Fish oil has a much lower content of vitamins A and D compared to CLO & the body naturally produces vitamin D when exposed to sunlight. Guest guest
I live in Florida and a lot of the WAP members here have been getting their vit. D levels checked and even with all our sun year round their levels are still low even with the clo. Quite interesting. That is why I will keep taking it all year. Guest guest
That is very interesting. Maybe I will continue using cod liver oil in the summer. Dr. Mercola had me worried about overdosing on Vit. D, but if WAP members have been getting their levels checked I might have to rethink this. Guest guest
If you are concerned I would have my vit. D levels checked. Guest guest
Will the liver of other animals be as beneficial as cod liver?... thus eliminating the need to buy such expensive oil? _____ I think that it is to take CLO in the winter and fish oil in the summer to prevent a Vit D overdose. Guest guest
> > what are the symptoms of od'ing on Vit D? , The Vitamin D Council says: http://www.vitamindcouncil.com/ " Most of us make about 20,000 units of vitamin D after about 20 minutes of summer sun. This is about 100 times more vitamin D than the government says you need every day. " Here's an interesting article on Vitamin D toxicity: http://www.vitamindcouncil.com/toxicity.shtml excerpt: " Although there are documented cases of pharmacological overdoses from ergocalciferol, the only documented case of pharmacological, not industrial, toxicity from cholecalciferol we could find in the literature was intoxication from over-the-counter supplement called Prolongevity [8]. On closer inspection, it seemed more like an industrial accident but is interesting because it gives us some idea of the safety of cholecalciferol. The capsules consumed contained up to 430 times the amount of cholecalciferol contained on the label (2,000 IU). The man had been taking between 156,000 to 2,604,000 IU of cholecalciferol a day (equivalent to between 390 and 6,500 of the 400 unit capsules) for two years. He recovered uneventfully after the proper diagnosis, treatment with steroids and sunscreen. " B.
