Guest guest
Hi, Terri! Hmmm... Good question! I often think that books are written about the various health problems when the people get fed up enough with " conventional treatment " and start looking for real answers instead of treatment that treats symptoms and not cause. Cookbooks are great! I have lots of them! So far as I know, 's new cookbook for people with Hypothyroid is the first one to deal with the difficulties of weight loss when the metabolism is sluggish due to low thyroid function. Guest guest
Terri, Part of treating diabetes is being careful about what one eats. Someone who is diabetic has to think carefully about how much sugar, fruit, starches, grains, etc. they have per day. They also have to think about their protein and fat consumption as well, since diabetics have a greater risk of developing heart disease and kidney problems. So watching how, when and how much one eats is a very important part of dealing with diabetes. On the other hand, while treating hypothyroidism can involve eating in a different way and avoiding certain foods, the treatment of hypothyroidism has more to do with taking thyroid hormone(s) replacement and supplements. Still, there is lots you can do for your thyroid in terms of eating. Topper can tell you about the mini-meals she eats in order to go easy on her metabolism. There's also a list of foods that tend to be goitrogenic (i.e., not very good for the thyroid), such as unfermented soy products, etc. You might want to have a look at some of the links here on the group. blithe > > I wonder if anyone else wonders on this question. > > You know how when you go to a store and people like to buy cook > books.
