Guest guest
Deb... First CONGRATULATIONS!!!! But, if this is the first thyroid that you're taking AND you don't have your labs back yet... I'd cut WAAAYYYY back. Yes, you felt wonderful and you want to keep feeling that way.. but by the time you start feeling symptoms of taking too much (which can take up to 6 weeks) you're going to have so much in your system you could be endangering your health. Remember, the T4 takes four to six weeks to reach it's peak affect after starting or after a change... The T3 effects you right away.. it was the T3 that was making you feel so wonderful..... It's the T4 that will be building up and when that starts converting.. that's when the trouble begins. My suggestion.... 1/2 grain per day.. Quarter your tabs and take one quarter in the morning and one quarter in the afternoon until you get your labs... That will be in the next couple of days... then we'll see how far off things are.... when it's time to increase do so by a quarter grain at a time. Have you started charting your basals? So you can watch how your body is reacting.... they will tell you before symptoms will.... I want you to be healthy and happy and feeling good ALL the time.. and that is not too likely if you are taking too much thyroid too quickly. It can do damage to your heart, mostly, but other organs as well. You said that you're taking them sublingually? So I'm guessing that you are planning on having your meals and then popping the dose under your tongue.... I often do that... so good thought.... Don't be mad at me for saying to be careful.... I just want you to be safe... okay? Topper () On Sun, 10 Oct 2004 07:17:23 -0700 (PDT) Deb writes: Hi All! I am so excited. My Armour got here yesterday but I'm not sure of the dosing. I ordered 1 grain tablets and I have a pill cutter so I could cut them in half if need be. I took two whole tablets yesterday though because I wasn't sure about it. I don't feel like that had any adverse effects though. I don't have my bloodwork results back yet from Healthcheck USA, I had that done Thursday I think so I don't know what that is yet. I have been taking my adrenal glandulars every two hours, 1 capsule and they are 165mg of the adrenal stuff. I have been doing that for about a week and a half and have felt pretty good overall except for being incredibly tired, I didn't feel like crap. After I took my first Armour tablet yesterday I really got going though and I felt pretty good. I accomplished more before noon yesterday than I have in a month and I didn't need a nap yesterday afternoon although one would have been nice. I took another around four so two grains total yesterday (the first one was around 9 after I picked it up at the post office) and I got quite a bit done yesterday afternoon also, for me anyway. And today I don't feel totally wasted, in fact, I got tons done before 8 this morning. Yesterday I had three crockpots of soups/stews going and today I scooped our one cup servings into freezer bags. Okay, it doesn't sound like a lot, but for me it was a lot of work and I was breaking a sweat. Plus I was able to clean my kitchen up after myself both yesterday and today and once I was done with the soups, I made waffles for breakfast. The kids are REAL tired of Eggos and love my home made ones. They finally got some today. It's 9:12 am as I type this. And I do feel like a nap, but not because I NEED a nap, but because I am slightly tired and I busted my hiney yesterday and already this morning so I am probably pushing myself a little hard. But I really feel good today. Just tired. And still taking my adrenals every two hours, that really seems to help. Anyway, how much Armour should I be taking at first or should I keep with the two grains I took yesterday? I took my one grain tablet this morning at 5, and I was thinking maybe split one in half and take with lunch and then again with dinner. I also am taking them sublingually as I have seen where there seems to be better absorption that way. Am I doing this right? If you got this far with all of my babbling, I sure am impressed! Have a great weekend everyone! Deb :-) off to see how much I can get done today. WOOHOO!!!!!
Guest guest
Hi Topper, Thanks for the suggestions and encouragement. I had been taking synthroid, 112 mcg of it, and before that is was 125 mcg and before that it was 100mcg so I've been on just the T4 since the middle of April of this year. Is that still going to cause a problem? I'll cut back too, since I really didn't know what I was doing anyway and didn't ask before I popped the first pill because I was so excited. :-) And yes, I do plan on eating and the sticking a pill under my tongue. It's just easier that way because I snack all day long. Well, more like splitting my daily food intake into small portions throughout the day because I get sick to my stomach if I have too much or too little. It's too hard to do 1 hour before or 2-3 hours after a meal because I don't do regularly spaced meal times. Deb :-)topper2@... wrote: Deb... First CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Guest guest
Okay.. now I remember..... heheheh Go with 1 grain per day until your labs come back.. then we can see how close/far you were.... 1 grain will be slightly less potent than what you were on..... But the T3 may be something that your body is not used to if you weren't converting the synthetics well...... I'm a firm believer in 'better safe than sorry'.. as soon as you get the labs post them, ranges too... if they are showing low, and most likely they are.. then you can up to 1 1/2 per day... Then I'd say wait at least a month and see how you are doing.... then go from there.... I'm so happy for you... that you are figuring this out so quickly, that you have the internet and groups to help.. Learning how your body is working.. and what you can do to help... It took me 13 years, thank goodness we finally have the internet and can find others... I'd still be a ball in the corner if not for finally learning what was wrong... that my meds were inadequate!!! I'm looking forward to watching how you do!!! *wink* Topper () On Sun, 10 Oct 2004 08:18:55 -0700 (PDT) Deb writes: Hi Topper, Thanks for the suggestions and encouragement.
