Guest guest
Hi Dawn, These test lab ranges vary a bit from lab to lab. When you are shown, and hopefully given a copy, of your lab results, to the right will be this particular labs ranges. Guest guest
Hi Dawn, Where you end up in the " accepted " / " medically approved " lab range or over the range should be determined by how you feel. Not by what the lab says you should be. A great many of us start to feel good and have our symptoms lessen and in most cases disappear when we are near the top of the Free T3 range. Some of us, due to our individual bodies resistance to absorb and utilize T3 have to see our numbers over the top of what the labs say is the top of the range...for us to feel good and progress onto the rest of our lives. With that said, I have read that the level that you feel good at, this year, may change come the cold season, or during the hot months, Or for us women, during our bodies maturing change...In other words, no set doseage will ever follow you the rest of your life. Expect gradual changes. Sometime you will need to increase, sometime there might be a need to decrease...Base this on how you feel over a period of a month...Not on just a bad day...too many factors in todays society can cause any of us to have a bad day. Now, finding your dosage may take awhile. There is no magic dosage for all of us. After all are we not individuals?. Some of us start off with 1 grain than go up 1/4 grain every 5 to 6 weeks. Some of us go up faster...Some of us go up even faster and pay the price by going hyper and having to back off. Then wait for the body to readjust to the known good dosage, and then, go up very slowly once again. Yes, 1/4 grain, every 6 weeks is very slowly, however your body should adjust safely to each level and you will also have the time to FEEL how your body is responding to the current dose. How do you know that you are getting close??? All I can recommend is to keep a record of your waking basel temperature, your waking/resting heart rate, waking breaths per minute, how you FEEL that day or week at the end of the day. Some of us, myself included have made it a habit to record these on a daily basis...(otherwise I conveniently forget to do any of these) Others only record once a week...the more complete the record is the better you will see what triggers a bad day and a good day...Eventually you will start to see more and more good days. Lastly, I would recommend that you research what you have now to live with. Read books that are current in their content. AND get a hold of some of the old books where they treated by how a person FEELS. Shomon web site and books are probubly some of the best to start with. Her web site is: thyroid.about.com Another would be Dr. Mercola's web site: http://www.mercola.com/index.htm and http://www.drlowe.com/index.htm Read these web sites front to back. They will help you understand what life has dealt us. There are a ton more web sites however these will get you started. Get 's books, they opened quite a few windows of understanding for me. And opened up quite a few questions as well. Keep asking questions of us and of your Doctor...(this may begin the Doctors education by having him/her do some research on their own to answer your educated questions. You may eventually know more about this disease than your doctor might, thus you can gently educate the doctor on what he/she was not taught in school. With this education you will be able to tell when things FEEL right or wrong and may even know what might have set off the wrong feeling. Good Luck! Let us know how things go! Please post your labs and the ranges from this particular lab and we will try to help you decifer what the lab readings say. Gossimer > > > Thanks Gossimer, > Where in the range should I be?
