Guest guest
Hi! I am so jazzed, I got my blood tests back online today and, even though I try to read as many posts as I can, I still need some help interpreting them. I got a lot so here goes (I already know the cholesterol is high) I got these from healthcheck usa Neutrophils 52 Lymphocytes 34 Monocytes 6 Eosinophils 7 Basophils 1 WBC 6.6 RBC 4.60 HGB 13.5 HCT 42.9 MCV 94 MCH 29.5 MCHC 31.5 Platelet Count 343 (at least I know I'll clot if I get cut! LOL!) RDW 13.2 ALT (SGPT) 78 Albumin 4.4 Globulin 2.8 Alkaline Phosphatase 86 AST (SGOT) 44 BUN 15 Calcium 9.3 Chloride 106 Cholesterol 246 Creantinine 0.8 GGT 38 Glucose 93 Iron 69 LDH 171 Phosphorus 3.9 Potassium 4.4 Sodium 139 Total Bilirubin 0.4 A/G Ratio 1.6 Total Protein 7.2 Triglycerides 77 Uric Acid 5.2 HDL Cholesterol 72 CHOL/HDL Ratio 3.4 LDL Cholesterol 158 LDL/HDL Ratio 2.20 VLDL, Calculated 15 Ferritin 14 (ummmm their range starts at 10 and goes to 291 so I guess this is low?) Free Thyroxine (T4) 0.8 Bicarbonate 24 Triiodothronine Free 2.1 TSH (3rd generation) 1.312 Okay....now some of this I recognize, most I don't. Can anyone help interpret these for me? I gather I am very iron deficient and don't absorb what gets into my body anyway what with the iron and ferritin levels being so low. What is a good iron supplement? Well, I need to run get something to eat and make sure the kids aren't killing each other. Catch you all later! Deb
Guest guest
You appear to still be hypothyroid. T3 low > Triiodothronine Free 2.1 2.3-4.2 (bottom of range. You should be feeling quite tired considering that the ranges are skewed toward hypothyroidism.) Low end red blood cell count > RBC 4.60 4.20-5.40 (at low end, common in hypothryroidism. In hypothyroidism blood cell production is slowed and so as the circulating ones get old and die there are fewer new ones being made to replace them due to slowed mtabolic rate. Your blood protein levels are pretty good, so you seem to be eating well.) Mineral disturbances > Calcium 9.3 8.5-10.5 (This is a sign of adrenal fatigue or low adrenal output. It disturbs blood mineral balance and causes calcium to build up in blood. This happened to me.) > Chloride 106 98-109 (Another sign of mineral balance disturbance) > Sodium 139 236-146 (Loss of sodium is common in adrenal fatigue or low adrenal output. Body is leaching calcium from bones to make up for low sodium levels. Magnesium levels are probably also at high end. As thyroid levels decline, adrenal function declines with it.) High cholesterol > Cholesterol 246 <200- (High cholesterol is a classic sign of hypothryoidism and hypothyroidism is the major cause of high cholesterol, conveniently ignored by doctors in the interest of selling medications.) Bilirubin at low end > Total Bilirubin 0.4 0.2-1.3 (sign of low adrenal problems) Glucose at high end > Glucose 93 60-99 (Possible sign that adrenal cortisol is low and that pancreatic output of insulin is low, common in slowed metabolism of hypothyroidism.) iron possibly a little sub normal > Iron 69 35-185 (Low iron common in hypothyroidism. This looks pretty good, but a normal person would probably have iron levels in the 70s up to 100.) Possible sign of some slowed kidney function. >Uric Acid 5.2 2.5-6.8 (Uric acid above the midrange. Uric acid is a byproduct of muscle activity and the kidneys must remove it. If it gets too high, you get symptoms of gout and other joint problems. This is common in hypothyroidism. Low thyroid slows kidneys and Uric acid gets higher.) Tish
