Guest guest
************************************** I kinda got behind in e-mail there for ahwile and had to delete some, so I have been reading messages here and there on unsubscribing. I just feel I have to have a say here. I find it very uncomfortable that we as adults cannot stand the thought that someone else has different opinions than we do. Us DIABETICS know without a doubt, that this is a SELF-MANAGED PROGRESSIVE disease. I have learned for the first time from this group, not to just go along with what a doctor says just because their a doctor. Not to judge what a good doctor is and when it's time to start looking for another or a specialist. I have learned about all types of treatments, how unpredictable this disease can be, not to ever think I have it under control just because I have good BG's. How to eat, what foods cause different reactions etc. etc. etc. None of these were opinions I had before coming into the group. I personally do not think lo-carbs is healthy for MY body. I do mod-carbs and I'm lucky for now that my body tolerates it. I read about Phyllis's fustration's and battles, and know that too could or will be me one day and you bet if I can't get anything to work, I know my next jump would be to low carbs. I have learned from the type I's to try getting use to the idea of insulin or a pump should the day ever come that I need it. I would still have to count this as one of my greatest fears, but, keep working on me!!!!! My point to this long rambling message is no one has all the answers, we can only make the most informed choices we have to as we educate outselves. It's not a battle between us, it's a battle against this disease. Hopefully with each other's support we can make those choices when we need to quickly without fumbline around for solutions, because of what we have learned from each other. jeanna
