World's GREATEST Son Saves Mom from herself!!!! (LONG)

I tell ya! There are actually days when I think I have the world's greatest son! He talked me through a VERY rough encounter at Walmart tonight!

I was just wandering around, trying to stay away from the crowd to avoid having a full-blown panic attack and ended up in the bakery section! At that moment my son calls my cell to find out where I was and I told him. LOL There was the most amazing-looking chocolate cake there...appropriately called "chocolate DREAM cake" ROFL - my mouth was watering, my resolve was weakening and I told Mikey that this cake was actually calling my name and it was going into the cart!

He was so funny! This is how our conversation went:

First he says "MOM! what do you say at TOPS every week?" -

(well, I'm still in a chocolate stupor) and I said "HUH?"

.....he says "c'mon mom WHAT does your pledge say?" (keep in mind that this is the same child who drilled me for 2 weeks until I got it right - so he knows it backwards and forwards LOL)

...."ummmmm??" (still trying to come out of the daydream - cuz by now I can TASTE this thing!)

"MOM!!! WHAT DOES YOUR PLEDGE SAY?"

uuuummmm...I am an intelligent person?"

"yes....what else?"

"well, it says I will control my emotions, not let my emotions control me, but Mikey this has nothing to do with my emotions....it's NOT my head.....it's my mouth that's screaming for this chocolate"

"MOM! Say the whole thing!"

*sigh* "fine if it will make you shut up so I can buy this cake I will".....so I recite the whole pledge - getting to the end where it says "even though I over-eat in private my excess poundage is there for all the world to see....I WILL TAKE OFF POUNDS SENSIBLY" (NOW mind you by this time other customers in the bakery are starting to stare at me because, as anyone who knows me can tell you, I'm not a very quiet person ROFL)

my son says....'EXACTLY!! Now is that cake sensible?"

I hang my head and say "no, BUT ok maybe that IS a little too much how about a cupcake?"

Mikey: "arrrggghhh!! MOTHER!!! what did you just say?"

Me: "my excess pounds are still gonna be there? and a cupcake isn't sensible either?"

Mikey: "RIGHT!! now back away from the cakes and head for office supplies!! You know if Betty was with you she would probably be smacking your hands!"

FINE! I SLOWLY left the bakery ......and I swear that cake started screaming my name! I actually went to the office supplies and was standing there talking to him and he didn't believe me! So what does he do? He tells me to hand the phone to the nearest person to me....which I did....and I hear them say "we're in the office stuff, why?" - at which point she hands me my phone back ROFLMAO!

Then he tells me to go straight to the check out and come home AND then he says...."if you come walking in the door with ANYTHING that isn't sensible I WILL throw it in the trash!" WELL!! knowing how this child loves to torture me I wouldn't put it past him, I just couldn't see letting him throw away a $10.00 cake so I did just that!

The minute I walked out the door and that cold air hit me in the face - I was back in reality and I started laughing! I think I laughed all the way home I walked in the door, hugged my son and he ripped the bags our of my hand and did an inspection ROFL!

What a kid huh??!!??! He knew it was a moment of weakness and he knew I was going to hate myself if I gave in! I've worked wayyy too hard the last 3 weeks to blow it now! God Bless My Son for saving me from myself! LOL

Thanks for letting me share that! I'm just so darn proud of him right now.....I'm sure by tomorrow he'll do something to make me wanna kill him LOL but for now -- I'll bask in the glory
