Guest guest
Hello! For the last 8 years I have asked my doctors to run the TSH test to see if I have a thyroid problem and I always here that I am "within the normal range". I have symptoms such as morning basal temps in the 96's, messed up cysles, etc. My father needed his thyroid removed when he was only 49. I saw my family doc on Tuesday and he doctor confirmed on Tuesday that my thyroid was enlarged. This is after 2 miscarraiges and 2 years of significant exercise and I have maintained a weight loss of 30 pounds (which takes a tremendous effort still to maintain). I am 34 and this time I finally asked for the test result number. She told me my result was 1.05 and that .40 to 5.00 was normal. Again I heard that I am "normal". I want to pursue this further and any advice would be appreciated. I have read about the Thyroid syndrome which may be a match for me and I have read that Armour can be more effective than synthroid. What can I do or what has to happen for me to get help? Sincerely, Peg

Guest guest
Hi, Peg, welcome.... Tell them that you want some tests run. You want TSH Free T4 Free T3 antithyroglobulin and antithyroidperoxidase You also want you ferritin levels checked. They may refuse, if so, if you can afford it... check out Health Check ( www.healthcheckusa.com ) to see if there is a Lab One in your area and you can get your tests there (we can go into that more later). Once the tests are run. As your doc for copies of your results. It's not the law in the US that you be given copies. Some will make you pay to make the copies. But they have to give them to you. Health check gives them to you online and in the mail, and you don't need a doc to order the tests. Having a TSH in 'normal' range doesn't mean squat. You need to know what the thyroid hormone levels are, if you have antibody issues and how your iron is (more and more of us are showing up with iron issues) When you have a few minutes, we have a page set up on our ThyroPhoenix site that runs through the various hormones and tests to give you a base of understanding.... www.thyrophoenix.com/thyroid_101.htm We also have a page set up with some things that you can check on your own to get an idea of how your metabolic rate is, a good indicator of how your body is doing. www.thyrophoenix.com/self_monitor.htm We're all here to help you with your questions...... Let's see if we can find out what is wrong and get you to feeling better. Topper () On Fri, 20 Aug 2004 01:29:11 -0400 peg10950 writes: Hello!
