Guest guest
Pains associate with period are very individual. They can be related to imbalance hormones or poor muscle tone. Cramps are pain in the muscles of the uterine wall while they are doing the contractions that help to move the material out of the body, the menstrual flow. For some women balancing hormones does the trick (that would involve optimizing thyroid medication as well). For others working on better lower back and abdominal muscles helps a lot. For others.. its a reaction to the chemicals in feminine hygiene products. In pad, tampons and sprays. I found a site that not only discusses that, but gives instruction on how to make your own washable pads, or buy theirs. They also offer a reusable/washable device that replaces tampons. All the items are chemical free. I've been using home made pads for over a year and a half... I think I started in December that year... or maybe January.... But after the first month I had NO desire to go back to tampons.... Never thought that I'd say that.... I hated pads and had gone to tampons... now... only the washables... No itching, cramps, more even flow... And BEST of all.. They are made in a size to fit me. Store bought pads are designed for a six 6 person... I haven't been a size six since before I even started my periods (in the fifth grade - already 5' 5 and 130 pounds. My pads are long enough so that I can sleep through the night and have no worries about having to wash bedding in the morning. Oh, not to mention the fact that I don't know when my period is coming except by the date... then I watch to start spotting. No bloating, pain.. nothing... So there are a few things that you can consider, hormones, muscle tone, and toxins.... Guest guest
pains and stuff before they get there period? and do they get it > really bad when you get it? ______________ All of the above. Hypothyroidism can cause periods to lengthen, lasting up to weeks. It can cause the time between periods to lengthen. It can cause terrible PMS and other symptoms before your period. It can cause fibroid tumors, endometriosis, uterine hyperplasia, infertility, PCOS and on and on. Tish

Guest guest
I can only speak for me. My periods are a nightmare. Bad PMS, long lengthy heavy period, (wow, TMI) and the nastiest cramps. I was hoping that was one more thing I could blame on my thyroid!! Guest guest
Hi, Yep, that would be me. I have HORRIBLE cramps, like I used up all of my husband's vicodan (he had surgery and still had some left) plus the darvocet I had left from my gall bladder surgery. I had to take some of either of those until they were gone just to make a dent in the cramps. Nothing works to make it better. I get rediculous migraines, I throw up and all number of unpleasant things. And during (getting into TMI territory) I have the most terrible pains in the you-know-where. It feels like I am being ripped apart from the inside out. Guest guest
I know for me, adding progesterone cream into my life has helped that immensely. I believe that with hypo you can have low progesterone/estrogen dominance. After a few cycles, my periods are 1-2 days shorter, MUCH lighter, and pain free. RE: female issues I can only speak for me. Guest guest
Yep, heavily connected with progesterone loss, not estrogen loss. RE: female issues I can only speak for me.
