Guest guest
HI, I posted a little while ago about what tests to have done for hypothyroid. Well I finally got it done. My doctor wouldn't do the anti bodies but here are the rest of the results TSH .93 .45-4.67 T3 2.9 2.4-4.2 T4 .97 .71-1.85 b12 438 193-982 If I can't get my ENT doctor to prescribe Armour I will be doing it through Myrxforless. What amount would you suggest I take every day? How often during the day should I take it? When do I increase the dose from the first time I start taking it? If my ent doctor wants to know what dose to prescribe do you have any suggestions?(I don't think he will but I want to be prepared) Thanks in advance for your help. Guest guest
Hi Krystie, The TSH isn't looking bad.... but the T3 and T4... if they are frees, the are both too low... since they aren't marked as being frees, we assume they are totals, since that is what many docs seem to check and if so.. the numbers are WAAAAYYYY too low. If you are staying on synthetics, I'd say it's time to increase, especially if you are experiencing hypo symptoms. If you are switching to Armour... what dose of synthetic are you on right now? It takes 4 to 6 weeks for an increase in T4 to be fully realized by your body... so I always suggest at least 4 weeks.... For those that are more sensitive to adjustments it's better to wait longer.. a couple of my adjustments were done at 12 weeks... by body just wasn't ready before then.... Let us know what your current dose is... then we'll give you some ideas of a starting dose of natural.... As far as how many times you dose a day? That is very individual.. some do good on one dose, some do better with two. A larger does in the morning and a smaller one in the early afternoon. Still others dose three times. largest in the morning, a bit less in the early afternoon and a small dose at night... then there is me... I dose every 3 to 4 hours... cause I'm just a really bad converter. It's takes a bit of experimentation... Since the your body will be reacting to the direct T3, if it turns out that a given dose is too much for you and you need to split it... any hyper feeling and anxiety will be over in a few hours since T3 is 95% used up within four hours of taking it... We'll help you figure it out if you'd like... you won't have to worry about doing it on your own... You can monitor yourself too, to see how your body is reacting.. that gives a pretty clear picture of your metabolic rate to make adjustments much easier to figure out. www.thyrophoenix.com/self_monitor.htm On the B12.. I'm just learning about that stuff.. so I'll let those more knowledgeable respond.
