Guest guest
>>>MELODY WROTE>>>TOPS do you want to reach your goal? do you want to lose X amount of pounds, do you just want to have a net loss for the year? Well, I'd love to reach my goal.... but I need to be realistic. In 2002, I lost about 25 lbs with TOPS... in 2003, I lost about 13 lbs, and in 2004 I lost 29 lbs. I have 50.75 lbs to lose to reach goal. I'm not a fast loser... and I never lose much more than a pound or so at a time. So, my goals are.... *to lose 12 lbs by SRD at the beginning of April (that will put me at 203.75 and down 75 lbs from starting wt.) *to weigh under 200 lbs by June 1st (I weigh 215.75 now... I hope that I can lose 15.75 + lbs in 5 months) *to be down 25 lbs for the year by Nov. 22, 2005- my 40th birthday (190.75) *then I just want to hold onto that 25 lb loss for the year through the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. That will leave me with 25 lbs to lose to reach goal. I'll work on those pounds in 2006. 2nd: WHY do you want these specific goals? What is your motivation? Because I want to be healthy... and I want to look hot in tight jeans. Motivation.... hmmm.... okay, other than the fact that I live in fear that my muscle disease will flare and I will once again be bedridden, having to rely on nurses to lift me and transfer me to wheelchair/ shower chair / commode... and the fear of being dropped (happened at St. 's rehab!) and falling and not being able to get up (happened too many times to count!) ... other than that, I want to prove to myself, and everyone else, that it is possible to take off pounds SENSIBLY! My sister, who was going to join my TOPS chapter, is now on dr. prescribed diet pills.... and several other people that I know are going the gastric bypass route. I'm soooo angry at my sister! She was on phen-fen (fen-pfen?) before, lost some weight, went off of it, and gained back probably 3X's what she lost! Apparently, you can still get whichever half of phen-fen wasn't pulled off the market... phentermine Phentermine is a sympathomimetic amine, which is similar to an amphetamine. It is also known as an "anorectic" or "anorexigenic" drug. Phentermine stimulates the central nervous system (nerves and brain), which increases your heart rate and blood pressure and decreases your appetite. • Phentermine is used as a short-term supplement to diet and exercise in the treatment of obesity. hmmmmm..... "short-term supplement"... well, gee, what happens when you go off of it and you haven't had to work on making serious lifestyle changes??? "increases heart rate and blood pressure"... well now isn't that just what every obese person needs to do.... raise heart rate & blood pressure and risk heart failure!!! Good grief, here I go again, rambling on and gettin' off topic. Now, where was I.... 3rd: How will you get to your goals? ....with a lot of help from my TOPS friends!!!! and determination and dedication. 4th: Set your long term goal (whatever it may be) - then set short term goals...those little footsteps that you will take over the year to get there. Okay, surely I answered this somewhere above. I WILL lose 25 lbs this year. Other goals, not related to numbers: ~I want to learn to do the Electric Slide (will we be dancin' in San Angelo???) ~Okay, this is a real hard one because I'm very uncomfortable in front of crowds.... I want to do the "baggy clothes" parade at SRD this year. I've lost over 50 lbs (63 lbs to date) with TOPS. I saved a couple of big dresses/outfits that I wore when I first joined TOPS. Deanna convinced me that I should stand up and take credit for my progress.... although I'm nervous just thinkin' about it! I STILL see myself at 278+ pounds. My mind hasn't caught up with my losses yet. Jackie, you might have to hold me to this one... I might just chicken out. When is the deadline for me to decide if I'm going to do this? Is it something that I have to "apply" for? Okay, I can't think of anything else right now. Thanks for reading. Sorry so long.
