Guest guest
Here's two things I add to the faux mashed potatos...precooked mushrooms and/or a slice of pepper cheese cut up...mix in with smashed cauliflower (faux potatos) and nuke for two minutes. Very yummy. I've also recently discovered smashed turnips -- they're surprisingly lowcarb for a root veggie. Just slice them and steam them and when they're all soft then throw in food processor with some butter, salt and pepepr. I made a large batch (as I do with faux mashed potatos) and put it in a Tupperwear dish and take out portions for individual meals. The appearance and texture are similar to the faux mashed potatos made with cauliflower but the flavor and smell are somewhat different. Bet these would be good with the mushrooms and cheese too. I'll have to try it soon. Vicki << Regarding the faux potatoes... I have made them myself from cauliflower and using the Keto " Ketato " mix. They taste pretty good, really... but the issue I have with them is the way they smell. Honestly, that cauliflower smell almost gags me. How does everyone else season them, have you found any trick to overpowering the cauliflower smell? Thanks! >>
Guest guest
I've always made my " faux mashed potatos " with just steamed cauliflower, butter, salt and pepper..sometimes add a little cream cheese, .never added the Ketato mix. Why do you even need it? Maybe that's what smells? Isn't it a soy product? Vicki << egarding the faux potatoes... Guest guest
I made these and really liked them, but I had a hard time getting the cauliflower mashed. I used a blender as I don't have a food processor and it took 15 or 20 minutes and they were still a little chunky. They were totally cooked and very soft, but they didn't mash up like potatoes. They were good and I liked them, but I'm not much for cooking, so it's not something I'd make very often. The smell didn't bother me, but then I have always eaten and enjoyed cauliflower both cooked and raw. Roxanne

Guest guest
Hello Fijifamily@..., In reference to your comment: ð I used a blender as I don't have a food processor and it ð took 15 or 20 minutes and they were still a little ð chunky There's a huge difference between the blender and the food processor... btw i just recently got a food processor, only $39.99 at walmarts.... and omg i don't knokw how i 've lived without it.... i used to buy chopped onions frozen, cuz i hated chopping them, and before that i'd just never use onions.... well i think that this food processor has already been paid for just in the savings with the onions.... but BEWARE initially all stuff done in the food processor turns to puree till you learn to do it less. Guest guest
I just mash my califlower with a hand mashed potato masher, but I cook the califlower a long time until it is very mushy. Phyllis
