Medecines Sans Frontieres, is an international humanitarian medical organization. MSF is searching for a Medical doctor with experience in HIV/AIDS to support the medical/clinical activities of the project. Title of the project: HIV/AIDS comprehensive health care in Mumbai, India Required background - M B B S Recommended background - Training in comprehensive AIDS care- Training in ARV management Required experience- 2 years clinical experience - Experience in medical care to vulnerable groups- Multi-disciplinary team working experience Recommended experience - Experience in HIV/AIDS and TB- Work or working linked with NGOs Language -Fluent written and spoken English-Hindi and Marathi Requested skills - Empathy, comfortable to work with PLHA and able to have good social contacts with their immediate relatives- Comfortable to work with vulnerable target groups (Trans gender, MSM, CSW) - Able to preserve the patient confidentiality.- Able to work in a team- Capacity in planning and organisation- Able to represent MSF in front of other organisations- Good availability and flexibility with working hours- Creative, dynamic, enthusiast with self initiative- Diplomatic and social- Computer literate General Objective ·Provide appropriate quality care to PLHA. ·Supervise HAART and follow up in conjunction with expat Medical Officer ·Represent MSF image among assisted population and partners Task descriptions Medical ·Provide OPD consultations for OI treatment and prophylaxis, implement HAART and ensures the follow-up of the patients according to the MSF standards. Prescribes drugs according to the agreed project drug list. ·Consolidate of a referral system between the centre and public/ charity hospitals and laboratories. ·Arrange for admissions and additional investigations when needed and follows up referrals in Hospitals or laboratory. Keeps a good contact with the medical officer in charge at the referral structure. ·Reinforce the adherence on the therapy, follows up the secondary effects. Verifies the understanding of the patients on HIV, on the therapy, on secondary effects, adherence problems and refers the patient to counselling if necessary. ·Prepare and evaluates OPD consultation tools together with the Medical Coordinator. Documents specific cases for medical discussions ·Assist technically the home based activities of social workers and volunteers, perform medical home visits if required. ·Participate in organization of trainings for staff/ volunteers/ PLHA's or others on Medical issues. ·Propose patients to the selection committee according to the medical established in the project. Participates in the selection committee. Informs the multidisciplinary team members about the patients who should enter into the HAART preparation phase. ·Follow the universal precautions rules implemented in the project ·Ensure medical consultations for National staff if requested. ·Be available for exceptional medical home visits when alerted. Planning: ·Participate in the planning, monitoring, implementation and evaluation of medical activities. · Participate in the elaboration or improvement of medical protocols · Attend appropriate meetings (staff meetings, project meetings, etc…) · Participate in the project planning activities and budget planning activities. IEC: · Be involved in preparation of IEC materials and training for HIV related educational activities Data gathering/Analyses/Reporting · Collect medical data according to the Fuchia standard forms and submit necessary regular reports of the same · Participate in the organization of KAP survey. · Actively research information and report on local health situations related to HIV/AIDS or other public health emergencies. Advocacy · Identify and propose advocacy activities based on field experiences. Security · Follow MSF security guidelines Miscellaneous tasks · In special circumstances, she could be requested to carry out tasks that are not in the job profile · Represent MSF in front of other institutions within her field of expertise · Respect the confidentiality of the patient files · According to the nature of the organisation, she is available to carry out short interventions within the country when requested and to participate to exploratory missions as well as emergency interventions.
