Guest guest
The national benchmark for cancellations and no shows, per our consultants, is 12%. Typically, we are 9-12% with cancellation and no shows. Regarding the national average for wait time, not sure, our is typically 5 minutes in the clinic and 24-48 hours for a initial eval. Let me know if anybody else has information on these items. Guest guest
Mark; Your comment echoes what we have said to other colleagues on this subject: If you are seeing rates greater than 5%, you should be concerned. If you are seeing rates greater than 10%, you should be worried. If you see rates greater than 15%, you'll eventually be packing up. I know full well that many will say 5% is unattainable. We would obviously disagree, and counter that exceeding 10% is unsustainable for your practice. The real issue is not what " rate " , but why. Guest guest
I am not dissatisfied with this rate since we average 140-160 patients per day in our outpatient facility. I would like to see our initial eval appointment within 24 hours, but with our practice as big as it is, it is not obtainable. If we could recruit more therapist, then the expectation would change. Otherwise, we are doing pretty well. Guest guest
Ken, 5%, in my dreams! Was it Chuck Felder who posted that his benchmark data was 15%, I took this to be a combined CX/NS rate. How do you maintain 5% or less? Guest guest
Joe, Yes it was my data from previous years. Here's the data from PT Benchmark 2005, studied FY2004 data. The PT Benchmark data for FY2004 median was 11.6% for combined cancels & no-shows. Defined as: Cancel = on the schedule at the start of the day - called and cancelled (does not matter if they reschedule the visit, you still lost that date/time slot). No-show didn't come or call before the appointment. Chuck R. Felder, PT, SCS, ATC, MBA HCS Consulting, Inc.
