Guest guest
Greetings to you all. I hope this post may be of help to someone here and if someone may be able to help me with suggestions. I am 50 years old weighing 90Kilos/198Lbs height 5'9 " /1.75M and just diagnosed as diabetic 5 weeks ago. For someone who is find of lecturing children on benefits of good health find myself totally confused facing diabetes. I will only be able to see dietician and nutritionist sometime in March next year and I don't think my doctor knows a lot on diabetes. In 1998 my fast/Glu was 6.9 / 9.3 2hour Glu In 1999 my fast/Glu was 7.5 / 8.4 2hour Glu Both times doctor advised me to lose some weight but never warned that I am diabetic. 5 weeks ago fast/Glu 12.8 and 17.5 2hour Glu For the first time he mentioned that I am diabetic. To make long story short with exercise and diet I have been able to lower them, I think. November 1 Fast 12.8 and 17.5 2HRafter bkfastfood November 9 Fast 8.5 and 13.5 2HRafter bkfastfood November 16 Fast 7.9 and 10.2 2HRafter bkfastfood November 23 Fast 7.0 and 8.0 2HRafter bkfastfood November 25 Fast 6.5 and 5.8 2HRafter bkfastfood November 30 Fast 6.3 and 9.0 2HRafter bkfastfood December 3 Fast 6.5 and 7.9 2HRafter bkfastfood For last 15 days, 2HR after Lunch has fluctuated between 9.4 to low of 4.7 and 2HR after dinner has fluctuated from high of 10.3 to low of 5.2 depending on excecise and food I eat. I do intense stationary bicycling for 45 min every other day and do 1 to 2 KM of walk daily. I have noticed that I can eat all the skinless chicken, fat removed red meat, apple and ham slices, without much effect on BS. Raw vegetable salads lowers my BS. But I can not have raw sugar, peach, pear, potato, grapes, raisins, indian or lebanese breads/pita and milk products, all increase my BS. I can eat 2 slices of whole meal bread every meal but adding just one slice more increases my BS. I have been able to lose approx 5LB or approx. 2.5 kilos in last five weeks. For someone used to eating whatever takes fancy past five weeks have been very hard. Consolation being that physically I am in better shape then before. Very confusing too. It is like for the first time in my life trying to discover workings of my inner body and how and what it does with food I eat. So far I have no idea but slowly discovering for myself, I think. I find it hard to understand why DIET/SUGAR FREE soft drinks increase my BS and have how? I have no idea if I should be happy with my results or go see my doctor if I need to take medicines to lower my BS to normal? I am trying to figure out, how many hours does effect of eating sugar or potato lasts or effects my BS readings? So many questions that I have never had to ask myself before. I have to learn to live with it for the rest of my life. GREAT CONSOLATION being physically fitter. Please feel free to comment. Thank you and God bless us all. Thank You.
