Guest guest
Smita, I am 38 and had UAE on 4/1. I am normally pretty active (yoga and figure skating). The IR wrote me off of work for two weeks. I am grateful for that. I didn't react very well to the Morphine in the hospital, so maybe I'm taking a little longer than some to get back on me feet. I am normally one of those people who push the limits and don't rest as much as I should when sick/injured. I am trying very, very hard not to push it with this. Last week I found it uncomfortable (not painful) to stand for more than about 10 minutes or sit at the computer for more than about 30 minutes (this gradually increased from absolutely no desire to be upright the day I came home from the hospital). I also spent a great deal of time sleeping or laying on the sofa. Just felt very tired. About the only household chore I did was to clean the bathroom mirror and get up and get myself something out of the fridge or something to drink. Did take a short outdoor walk, but Michigan weather didn't cooperate with that for more than one day. About day 7 after the UAE I noticed a dramatic increase in energy. This week I've driven and done a couple of errands, done a few loads of laundry and made dinner. Today I was out of the house for a couple of hours doing errands (didn't nap today) and am feeling somewhat tired right now. I did go to yoga last night as well and felt great afterward. I am scheduled (and unless something strange happens) to be back at work on Monday 4/15. Let me know if you have any other questions. Guest guest
> Hi Everybody, > I am glad i joined this group. I am 42 and have fibroids since In regards to doing housework and driving. I was permitted to do pretty much anything I felt like doing about 36 hours after surgery. I stayed overnight, came home the next day and made dinner that night- -nothing fancy---have stuff ready-to-go in the freezer and just defrost. I was able to do laundry about 2 days after I got home. Stairs were not a problem. I don't think you'll want to scrub floors (do it before going in or just ignore it for a week). Driving--could have driven the next day except the doctor asked me not to drive while on the pain medications--the anti-inflammatories were not a problem with driving. So for about 3-4 days I didn't drive. I was permitted to shower the next morning after the surgery--they just don't want you taking a bath and soaking the incisions. My incisions were closed with pressure and then band-aids. Some docs use a kind of glue but whatever--the incisions heal within a few days--more like the type of " hole " left by an IV that's been in a few days. If you have teen-age type kids--this is the perfect opportunity for them to learn to cook easy meals (start now--it may take some time) or get them used to defrosting things you've prepared and how to reheat them. Pizza never hurt anyone for a few days!

Guest guest
Snita wrote about UAE: " The doctor told me recovery would be 5-7 days. I would like to know when you were able to drive and do minor household chores. " I hope the doctor will go into more detail with you. A lot of women do feel fatigue and some pain for between two and four weeks after UAE. If these women have been told that they will be back to normal within a week, they simply worry more when they don't feel well. Also some women have vaginal discharges months after UAE; often this means that they are in the process of expelling dead fibroid material. That's not a bad thing but needs to be watched and managed to avoid infection. Therefore you should be assured that your gynaecologist and radiologist will cooperate for aftercare. In all probability driving and light housework will not be a problem for you by the second week after UAE.
Guest guest
I had my UAE in November, and was back at work full time after a week. I had gone in for a few hours about the 4th day, but nothing was pressing so I took off the rest of the week. No problem driving myself, once I got off the pain meds. My main problem was standing - any real length of time and my upper legs hurt. They felt weak for weeks after, and just gradually got stronger again. Must admit housework was low priority, took care of what needed beforehand, and figured the rest could wait until later, or the guys could take care of it. Hope this helps! > Hi Everybody, > I am glad i joined this group. I am 42 and have fibroids since last > 3 years . I had an ultrasound every year.
