Guest guest
For those using Biofreeze. Are there any controlled studies on the product? Has it been proven to pass through the skin? It has been a couple of years since I attempted to do a literature search but at that time there was no significant information pro or con. If someone has their hand on the studies I would appreciate the time savings Newton, PT, DPT, OCS, CWS

Guest guest
I think you are reading into the external use only warning. The practice of using it as a medium for ultrasound has been used for many years in professional sports, Division I athletics, etc. Simple fact, it does work on some patients or athletes. It just depends on the situation, patient, and injury. I am unaware of research supporting using the ingredients in biofreeze with ultrasound and the warning on the label states " for external use only. Guest guest
Hi everyone, In regards to Biofreeze, please check out the FAQ's on the Biofreeze website. According to their site, Biofreeze is neutral in charge (ie for iontophoresis) and will not penetrate the skin (for phonophoresis). It can be used with ultrasound and will not block the sound waves. By using it you are just spreading a topical ointment. And yes it has been used in many, many training rooms without reports of problems.
