My doctor told me she removed a small benign tumor which mimicked a

fibroid during my myomectomy. At a one week post-op appointment, I

was able to read a draft of my op report. The report, which was not

finalized, described a 2 cm subserosal leiomyoma or adenomyoma.

Since my doctor said the tumor mimicked a fibroid, I assume it was

an adenomyoma. I found an article on the net which said that

adenomyomas are rare in women who have not had children. I was

under the impression that it is a self-contained, small area of

adenomyosis.

A year ago I had a D & C in which cervical and endometrial polyps were

removed. One polyp was sent from my local hospital to a hospital

downtown for further pathology. It was determined to be a benign,

rare embryonic tissue.

I just thought this was interesting.
