Is the lemon part crucial or could I just put the powdered eggshell in a capsule

and take it that way?

Re: How to Make Calcium using Eggshells

I remember my mother taking our fresh eggs and washing them and laying

them whole in a dish and then squeezing fresh lemon juice over them

until they were covered and letting them set in the frig until the

shell was soft. She then removed the eggs and poured the calcium mix

into a jar and would eat several spoonfuls a day of it. She said the

lemon made the calcium more easy to absorb.

I kind of like the dry method though.

Thanks for the information

Hi, the possible reason eggshells weren't a good thing is because of

the type of eggs and whether the chickens were fed their natural diet

including insects, worms, bugs, meats, etc., and whether they were

trully " free-range " and not treated with vaccines or antibiotics and

they were fed foods free of pesticides, etc. The chickens diet will

affect the mineral content in the eggshells.

I used to be on this herbal list and the doctor on there had this

recipe called " Lemon Egg " You put the whole eggs in a jar and added

lemon juice and let it sit and he claimed that was the best calcium

supplement ever. He also had a recipe for vitamin C using ground up

orange peels. Try googling " lemon egg " and maybe you can find the

exact recipe. If I come across it in my files, I will post it and the

vitamin C one. Nothing beats making it yourself.

IIRC it was because the kind of calcium that is in egg shells interfers

with stomach acid.

Can someone tell me if this is true: I was told long ago that the white

rind of the lemon, orange etc. helped the Vitamin C go into your body

but that the skin inhibited it. Right? Wrong?
