My husband bought me an aquamarine birthstone necklace for my birthday

this year. Normally I don't like to wear any jewelry except my

wedding ring, but this was an exception. I haven't taken it off since

he gave it to me. I have always been drawn to aqua blue tones....

lazuli ring.He got it when he taught in Afghanistan 40 years ago or

so.I love sapphires too. A lot of people are drawn to diamonds, but I

prefer those two and similar .Another thing, I am drawn to the jewel

tones in my graphic creations. In fact, someone was telling me that my

graphics are always using the bright colors(jewel tones) and that was

one way they could tell if it is mine.

Ok, my favorite apt was done in blue, blue carpet, wedgewood blue everywhere, even my curtains, with some mixed colors in there for contrast, of course. This calmed me down when I came home and gave me a very peaceful feeling. I do know that these shades of blue have been documented to be more restful peaceful colors, promoting more directed thinking and all that. The place my daughter and I moved to when she came to live with me is the one I'm in now, done with very dark green carpet, and dark green furniture. I hate these colors, as they are very depressing to me. Maybe if it was done in a lighter shade of green, say a very light bright olive, maybe not. There are reasons why our psyches like particular colors. I am also allergic to any less than 14 carat gold on my skin. However, I don't wear jewelry at all any more, as it agitates me for some reason, sort of like a bug crawling on me or something, if that makes any sense. Also, I may even be allergic to the 14 carat now, as I used to have a gold cap on one of my molars, and from the time it was put on, my gums on that side stayed inflamed and irritated. It popped off one day with a candied apple at work, and was never irritated again. BTW, it was pulled here last yr, so no danger of cavity there any more! I am also allergic to nickel, which is mixed into the gold in some jewelry.

Re: Re: Question about jewelry

Now that is wild... I love the color blue... everything that I can possible get in blue I will.. when I bought my house the first thing that I did was paint the livingroom blue... and this disorder that I have is genetic in origin.. bad TSH receptors..... From birth.... So was I drawn to a color because it helped my poor abused thyroid being over worked????

I know that as my hyper increased I went crazy with my cravings for strawberries, soy nuts, brussel sprouts and kohlrabi.....

I strongly believe the body knows a lot more than we give it credit for.. we just have to learn to listen...

This interests me if you'd like to run with it...

I have received very interesting feedback on the question of wearing jewelry.

Thanks so much guys !!!!!!

I got away from wearing jewelry when I worked as a hair stylist.

The last couple of years I have been very drawn to gems.

I have often wandered if when a person wear gold on their skin does a small amount of it leach out into your blood stream.

I noticed that I was attracted to working with stone/gems. Why do some feel so good to work with?

I have a Rhodonite bracelet I keep "remaking" and I guess it is just me trying to play with the gems over and over again.

(tried to make the word rhodonite a hyperlink.... hoped it works)

"cured" thyroid gland....

My mom was hypo all her life but all of a sudden one day her Thyroid gland just started working.

When I asked my endo if that was possible in my case, he said," No way, not with the results of your Thyroid Peroxidase test !! ".

I often wander if her thyroid kicking in happened around the same time her ry turned Gold.

As a child I remember her silver and crystal ry which is now gold in color.

She gave it to me shortly after it turned gold and I keep it in my purse and sometimes bring it out and wander how this silver rosary managed to turn gold in color??

Mom said she was using it (saying the ry) when it turned gold. I wander if her thyroid started working at the same time???

She is very difficult to deal with and has Cajun ways that my husband finds very difficult to deal with. If I were not so sick, I'd call her and ask but she requires more energy than I can give right now.

Thanks guys for all your feedback and links to sites that I can read on the gems and healing.

Not sure how many on the list believe in "New Age" remedies but here are a few things you can do with jewelry.Colors and stones each have healing properties. For instance, Citrine helps depression and anxiety, amethyst is an all around healing stone, red stones tend to help with blood disorders, and the list goes on. A lot of people have found relief from symptoms of certain disorders by wearing jewelry with the appropriate stone for the type of healing. This might sound corny to some, but this has all been tested for years and years and a lot of these "of wives' tales" have worked for centuries. To take it a step forward it is believed that illness stems from Chakras (energy centers in the body) being out of balance. This is ancient Eastern knowldge so don't laugh yet. Since the thyroid is located at the 5th chakra (the throat chakra)the color to help balance is blue. Blue stones are also VERY healing. Wearing a blue stone around your neck might be worth trying for a while :) I could go on for days, but I am sure I am boring you all with my Hoodoo.Deanna

Found this about it's metaphysical properties.....

RHONDONITE Projective. Element: Fire. Peace, anti-confusion. Pink,

black inclusions. Works with heart chakra; helps us express

confidence and lovingness on physical plane in day-to-day ways.

Calms and feeds the soul through the heart; love and service.

Soothes nightmares. Stress, heartache, loss, etc. Ancient use also:

Speech/hearing problems/growth, fear, illness (emphysema, asthma).

Strengthens mantras, chanting, affirmations, singing, toning.

Spiritual: Finding one's greatest potential, the love stone,

reducing tension and stress, attention to details and clarity.

Healing: Arthritis, anxiety, joints, emphysema and heart disorders

and sensitivity to light.

That's strange about the ry. Never heard that before.

Thanks for the info Deanna. You wrote it helps with sensitivity to light. I am super sensitive to light. I could live in a cave and would have no problems with the lighting <grin>.

I have a strand of Lapis (round beads) I bought a few weeks ago. I think I will string them and make a bracelet ..... or.... should I do a necklace?? I wander if it is better to wear it near the thyroid area?? Do you know??

Thanks again for info on Rhondonite.

Deanna... This thing with my lower legs... I still am not sure what it is... is there something that I might use to help improve the 'vibes' for them?

I have read and heard that it is better to wear them near the chakra or healing spot. If the energy is closer to the spot it is more effective. Necklaces and earring helps with higher chakras, stones in pocket help with lower chakras :) Kinda like applying an oinment to the infected spot. I'm glad I can help. I find it all so facinating and it makes so much sense to me. Deanna
