Guest guest
It seems to help me to think of them as a bunch of over paid hall monitors. So long as I have my papers, we are good. We were recently surveyed. They really did not do much in my areas, surveyors were too focused on medication reconciliation, physician H & Ps and physical environment of care issues to pay much attention to physical medicine. They saved us to the end and pretty much ran out of time. We were expecting them to look at inpatient trigger processes and integration of therapist assessments into the record and plan of care as well as fall protocols and discharge needs, but they did not even ask. We chatted for a few minutes about admission processes in our outpatient clinic, staffing plans, scope of service and other relatively casual topics. You probably should make sure your front line staff know emergency preparedness plans and exactly what their expected response is, which seems to be a popular line of questioning. They were really into patient care processes in other areas of the hospital, particularly registration, patient triage in ER, etc. Access to patient care service, patient identification, and need identification by front line staff seemed to be frequent questions as well.
