Guest guest
i am a diabetic type 2, and i have a question that i'd like to have answered very soon. i am off the medication which was 1 Amerryl, 2 diabex, 1 actos in the morning; and in the evening, 2 diabex, and 1 diamycron. my question is: i am now trying to control my sugar not through medication, but by controlling my diet and excercising (55 minute brisk walking) . in 2 weeks time i have lost 3 kilos, but my sugar level in the morning still goes from 9 to 11.4 . i am trying to do everything i can to normalise my sugar levels. what can i do? i have stopped eating rice, breads and pasta. i am now eating fish, chicken, salads and fruit, and some nuts. what can i do to make my normalise my sugar levels? i would be very appreciative of any advice, help and replies. thanks, jp. please reply soon. Guest guest
welcome to this list JP, Maybe the questions is how much do you eat? especially for foods which contain carbs (eg.fruits or some nuts) I notice some of us very succes with diet and exercice only maybe they can help you (hi guys, where are you?) Have you tried food combining?. I tried this diet for two days, and my bg was very good. May be it can help you who want to control bg with diet and exercise only (just a thought I wish you luck, JP Judith in > 2 weeks time i have lost 3 kilos, but my sugar level in the morning > still goes from 9 to 11.4 . > i am trying to do everything i can to normalise my sugar levels. what > can i do? i have stopped eating rice, breads and pasta. i am now > eating fish, chicken, salads and fruit, and some nuts. what can i do > to make my normalise my sugar levels? i would be very appreciative of > any advice, help and replies. > thanks, jp. > please reply soon. Guest guest
Sounds to me like you may very well need meds to control your morning bg's. Even 9 is much too high, as you know. You may want to give it another week, though of very low carb and lots of exercise, and see if you make any progress. What about insulin? Guest guest
I'ts possible that you're not eating enough. If your body thinks it's starving, your liver will kick in glucose. For a few days try eating more meat or fish, maybe add some cheese or avacado every couple of hours. For breakfast I eat a veggie (Morningstar) sausage patty and an Atkins breakfast bar. If I don't eat breakfast, my blood sugar goes way up from my dawn rise and Sport Tea, which I love (no sugar, no caffeine). Another great way to reduce blood sugar is exercise. Start slowly, so you don't hurt yourself and give up, 2-3 times per day, if you can. Walking is good, lifting weights, sit ups, anything, the more the better, but in small portions to start. And again, it could be you're going to need meds. Your sugars are still very high, so you might need some help getting your numbers down and a start on your weight loss. Guest guest
Portion size is important but even more important is WHAT you eat. Are you the person who had a few strawberries and tea for breakfast? That's not going to satisfy you, you're going to be starving by the next mealtime. Much better to have a good breakfast...a couple of eggs and bacon and a slice of lowcarb toast if you can find something in the market that has less than 13 carbs per slice. Learn to read labels...Look at the carb per slice number. You can also subtract the fiber. There are some commercial breads that don't' identify themselves as lowcarb, but they are. 10.4 is too high, and you might be able to lower it by eating a lower carb dinner and eat nothing after dinner too. Are you exercising? a good brisk walk will bring BGs down too. Vicki << thanks fior that, but now i have more to ask.In the morning, my sugarlevel is high like 10.4, so i thik that i should eat very little. >>
