my day and as you see by the time my last stop of my night. Because

I know its safe for me here and everything I say is understood!

So thank you all for being you and part of this group!

Thank you. My surgeon's approach to the incision sites has been keep

them clean and dry, no bandages or cover and no ointment, so I've

followed those and resisted my old favorite, neosporin. I go for a

checkup on Monday so he can see how they are then. Speaking of

Neosporin, I found it interesting in the hospital when they first

hooked me to oxygen (pre-surgery) they had me coat my nose inside and

out with it to protect me from staff infection from my own staff.

Something tells me probably not a bad idea to continue to use it in

and around one's nose periodically realizing that we live with

cannulas as a source for holding bacteria. Boy these incisions sure

aren't pretty-I don't give him style points. My colon resection

stitching two years ago was much cleaner and straighter. Oh, that was

done by a woman-better seamstress or just more concerned with

appearance? lol.

Hi, Talking about stuff up our noses.. just about everything I have

tried feels very HOT when I exhale. Ocean gel doesn't seem to do that.

I did read too that the fire retardant on our furniture and clothes

dissipates due to O2. I have to admit to using my curling iron, hair

dryer, hair spray. Oh well I am a woman first..

We are not supposed to use petroleum products in or around our noses

when using oxygen. I am surprised they did this in surgery. I will

admit, however, that I use the Neosporin cream sometimes in my nose.

I thought that it did not have petroleum in it, but I ready that

teeny tiny print and it does. Petroleum products while feeling

soothing, actually draws moisture out of the skin. I like it because

it has an anesthetic and sometimes I just need some pain relief.

Someone on this group told a story of sparks in an operating room

from some equipment being used and the patient caught fire. She was

using 02. They said flames shot out her nose. I can't recall

specifics, but the story made an impact so that I remember it.

There are lots of things we are not supposed to do while on oxygen.

Use curling irons, hair dryers, etc. etc. Over the years, I get more

and more lackadaisical about safety issues.

I do remember reading that the 02 actually gets into our hair and

clothes and makes us susceptable to catching fire. I'm sure that you

know without being told that 02 is not an explosive, but an accelerant.

O.K. that's all I know.
