Guest guest
I am new to this forum and would like to know why the Green Pastures CLO makes you gain weight. My daughter and I are taking it for good health, but we don't need to gain weight. As soon as we take the CLO the weight climbs. It's even more dramatic with the butter oil. Has anyone had the same effects. Is there another CLO that won't result in weight gain? Thanks.
Guest guest
I take both the Green Pastures CLO and the butter oil and have not noticed any weight gain. I take 1/2 t. CLO every day and 1/2 t. of butter oil every other day since I eat a lot of raw butter. Carolyn > > I am new to this forum and would like to know why the Green Pastures CLO > makes you gain weight. If you took 1 tsp per day of each, that would be 384 calories. I have read that to gain one pound of body weight requires about 3500 calories. If you don't otherwise compensate by burning more calories or eating slightly less each day, you would gain one pound in about 9 days. If you only take the 1/2 tsp serving of each, it would take 18 days to gain one pound. But yes, you may need to slightly reduce calories elsewhere in your diet or increase exercise to avoid gaining weight when you add CLO and butter oil. I take about 1 to 1.5 tsp of the Blue Ice CLO per day in the winter, but haven't tried the butter oil because of the high price. The butter oil should be high in vitamin K2, which is not advertised, and K2 is a very good compliment to the vitamins A and D in the CLO. It would be interesting to know just how much K2 is in the butter oil.

Where do you get that they have 96 calories per 1/2 tsp serving? The bottle of Blue Ice CLO says that it contains 96 SERVINGS, but says nothing about the number of calories per serving. And since most fats have somewhere around 110 calories per Tablespoon, I highly doubt that either the CLO or the butter oil contain 96 calories per 1/2 tsp. It's probably more like 20 calories per 1/2 tsp.

It would help if I could read the fine print The USDA food nutrient data base shows 123 calories per 1 tbsp CLO and 117 calories for 1 tbsp of CO for comparison. That would be only 41 calories per tsp at 3 tsp per tbsp. If the butter oil was about the same, that would be only 82 calories per day for 1 tsp of each. That would take 43 days to reach 3500 calories excess to produce one pound of weight gain! Although, you could gain 8 pounds a year at that rate. Thanks for catching that

Fat is about 9 Calories per gram. Off memory, I think there are about 4.5 grams of fat in a teaspoon of CLO, so there would be about 40.5 Calories/tsp.
