Guest guest
, I get those backaches, same spot all the time. I thought it was from my lungs, it even hurts in the front too. My dr said its not my lungs, could be muscles, stress, etc, all I know is I have to take pain meds for it. Vicky81856 MI IPH/PF 4-06See what's new at AOL.com and Make AOL Your Homepage. Guest guest
Do either of you wear portable oxygen over your shoulder or anything? I certainly haven't found anyway to do it comfortably yet and know that it positions me awkwardly and causes some back pain. It reminds me of years ago carrying heavy luggage through airports and elsewhere as I traveled a lot. Anyone got suggestions on how they comfortably wear portable tanks? > > , > > I get those backaches, same spot all the time. I thought it was from my > lungs, it even hurts in the front too. Guest guest
kay, Your body is telling you....stop!!!!! That pain is telling you that you are over-doing it...probably very low saturation!!! You just have to do less, rest in between activities and who cares about the vacuuming anyway? I find that I now take at least 3X the time to do what I used to do so easily!!!! Stuff eventually gets done...just not in the same time frame. Everyday things...showering, getting dressed, making the bed,.climbing the steps...are now considered activities...they take energy!!! I try to plan stuff so that I have enough energy for fun...my husband says that I wake with an energy budget and I have to be aware of what I use . Try to find ways to do things while sitting...like folding clothes, food prep...I got a three legged stool that is bar chair height...it's perfect for working at the kitchen counter and I'm sitting not standing and using more energy. Guest guest
, I use a Helios portable ( liquid oxy) I wear it in the holster like carrier just like an holster on my waist when in the house or when I'm shopping or visiting. I only put it over my shoulder for very brief periods of time..it hurts my back if I put it on my shoulder ( the chiropractor has told me for years not to use a shoulder bag) Z fibriotic NSIP/05 Z fibriotic NSIP/o5/PA Potter, reader, carousel lover and MomMom to Darah “I’m gonna be iron like a lion in Zion” Bob Marley wrote: Do either of you wear portable oxygen over your shoulder or anything? Guest guest
Vic, I have mentioned this ache to my doctor twice now. I was getting this before I was diagnosed so know it's not stress for me. I swear it's my lungs. I've mentioned it to her because I would like something besides Tylenol, which helps some times and some times not. I can't take any aspirin products because of my HHT. l What do you take for it? , I did put a tall bar stool in the kitchen this summer. Canning really was getting to me. It does indeed help. I can slow down some of the time. Life's events have really changed my attitude. I believe in having fun. Lots of it with best friends or family. , I don't take oxygen yet so nothing over my shoulder. I am going to ask my doctor about a handicap parking permit though. The place I shop is huge. Warehouse type. Parking like the Wal-mart stores. I don't have too much trouble walking. I take my time but like you, what really gets me is carrying things. It doesn't have to be very heavy either but it just zaps me of energy. I got my packet of information in the mail today from the Fibrosis foundation. As you know, I said I hadn't told my husband much. Before I left for bowling I gave it to him to read. When I got home, I could tell he hadn't picked it up. Well, finally tonight he read it all. So far, so good. At least on the outside. Kay Re: back aches , I get those backaches, same spot all the time. I thought it was from my lungs, it even hurts in the front too. Guest guest
My recommendation for back aches...... Most who are here are already on more medications than their bodies can tolerate. I've taken pain killers and muscle relaxers and never really found either to help my neck or back aches. Just as we need pulmonary rehab or therapy, I have found a physical therapist who is incredibly good at helping my neck and back when they flair up. We don't need strong manipulation but small hands on adjustment works wonders for me. I guess in some ways its little different than a massage except insurance covers it. Some chiropractors have massage therapists as well on their staff. I find a few sessions when its bad generally help a great deal. In addition to being therapeutic its enjoyable. When I first went I got stronger work done and was being taught exercises plus had neuroprobe used on me. The last round I just got good pressure on the pain points and massage followed by laying on a body moist heating pad. This current treatment provides relief without any of the risks of stronger treatments which my body isn't up to. I don't go to one of the huge sports therapy centers or anything to become Atlas but just a small center which tailors the program to me and is located less than a mile from my home. Obviously if its your lungs this won't help. However, I suspect many of us will experience some pain of this nature from changing the way we do things to accomodate our disease, from being more sedentary, and from our muscles working harder due to the weakness of our respiratory system. > > Vic, I have mentioned this ache to my doctor twice now. Guest guest
I've wondered the same thing , in fact the nasty persistent pain between my shoulder blades has really bothered me for a few years now. Like you, doing the dishes or food prep is one of the times it flares up. It seems like a 'referred' type of pain. I've had that before in a different spot that was related to my dud gall- bladder. This feels very similar but in a different place. that makes me think it could be connected to my lungs! It often keeps me awake at night too - then it'll go away completely for a period of time. I've mentioned to my GP & the 2 specialists but they didn't offer any suggestions!! one of weirdo things I guess in Cornwall from OZ IPF: Fibrotic NSIP/UIP? Guest guest
I had this similar pain last week but it felt like my left lung was punctured, or I had pnemonia I couldnt get past it I was sleeping with a heating pad and everything, when I was at the doctor I asked him and he said before he even looked have you been doing dishes at the sink? I said no I have a dishwasher. he said carrying boxes or laundry baskets out in front of you? No nothing just my chair at work I sit funny because it doesnt fit me. There is a main muscle that runs across the center of your back right along the outside of the walls of the lung. Its a back ache and heat and rest are what makes it go away, he said its a common place for the back pain and its because of those types of activities people do that causes it. It took over a week before it finally went away! Hope that helps! Guest guest
I also get pains in the neck, shoulder and front and back torso. I always thought it was cramping simply because I did not exercise sufficiently. I find that doing stretches helps some. I'm a believer in chiropractic care and didn't have these things when I could afford regular chiropractic. O2 sats may play a part. Try some mild stretches of shoulders and neck on a regular basis to see if that helps any. Google stretching because there are certain neck stretches that are potentially dangerous to everyone. Hope this helps. Peace be with you. Bonnie Faulkner / IPF - 1/06 / SC Building a website is a piece of cake. Yahoo! Small Business gives you all the tools to get online.
