Guest guest
I'm getting more and more readings in the " non-diabetic " range 65-95. I'm pleased but, should I be satisfied with these readings? I mean I know the goal is 100% and I'm working on that, but, are these goals realistic or not. Somehow I guess it bothers me that they are so much higher than " normal " . The important thing is that your readings are getting better. There is no agreement on a number that is too low or too high but I would say consistent levels of 65-75 are too low. My target low number is 90(5). Others think 80(4.4?) is okay. My target high number is 125(7). Again there is no agreement but anything above 140(7.8?) is too high. > One other thing, you might of all found this already but, > I happened along a product called a Carb Solution Bar this > morning. The only problem is they are made with maltitol which sometimes upsets my stomach. I will check out the Carb Solution bar. Guest guest
> -----Original Message----- > From: Jeanna .... > One other thing, you might of all found this already but, > I happened along a product called a Carb Solution Bar this > morning. The one I tried was the creamy chocolate peanut butter. > It has 2 carbs. It is a high protein bar. Calories are 230 CAUTION.... These products actually have a lot more carbs than reported on the label. The " extra " carbs are from ingredients such as sugar alcohols (maltitol, sorbatol, etc.) or glycerin. These items are generally slowly or partially digested and may or may not significantly affect ones blood sugar levels. YMMV. For example, I tried some low carb chocolate candy sweetened with maltitol and found It gave me a substantial and prolonged increase in blood sugar levels. So, if you are interested in these products, test, test, test to make sure you're not getting more of a blood sugar increase than you bargained for. LOL I've been laid off three times in 2001, still looking for yet another job, so I sure can't afford it... so I found a workaround. I uploaded a spreadsheet here some time ago that I created in MS Excel 2000 that will chart your glucose levels. I use it to print out reports each time I go to see my doctor. I find it very handy, and he's always impressed with the reports. Barb downloaded it and had some problems opening it. I haven't been able to recreate them. I'd love to get feedback from anyone else who has difficulties with it so I can figure out the problems. If you download and try it out and have any difficulties, please let me know exactly the error, and what version of Excel and Windows or Mac OS you're using. However, it's working great for me, and I've had several OTHER people use it without any hitches. It will take a bit of memory because it has a number of macros that generate the reports, so that might be one issue. The file name is " glucosecharts.xls " , and it's located in the " Files " section of the list on yahoogroups.com Hope it helps some of you!
