Leanne,

Don't they know why it is malfunctioning? It seems that people who have one lung transplanted recoup sooner. Whatever happens, you know that it is in God's plans. The waiting is just torture, though.

I never see anyone who has had a transplant that is heavy. I have wondered why, considering the prednisone. I dread kicking my dosage up to 20. Hopefully, no side effects at that dosage. I have never been totally off the stuff.

He told me the reason that we need to lose the weight is basically because you're going to put it back on again due to prednisone. Yippee. And that I will be on prednisone for the rest of my life after transplant. Another Yippee. Before they were talking about doing two lungs, now he's thinking it may only be my left one but he's going to bring it up before the board. There still is the heart concern - the right ventricle is functioning way below normal. So, we will revisit this issue when we get closer. They are going to schedule us for the lung transplant classes and if I had to guess, I would say I will be listed more towards the end of the year. He'd like me to lose 15 more lbs. Slow go, but I'll keep on trucking....All in all I felt it was a good visit. We sat and talked for about 20 minutes.
