Guest guest
to mrsfoleyis50 Know exactly what you mean. It may not be the doc but the medical system, the medical office setup etc. because the doc heavily relies on their secretary and nurses to do the followup task. I was driven to insanity by not able to reach the doctors, so I did the same thing, sat back and watched how they reacted. The nurses did not take action, and sometimes forgot to take action, such as the pathology dept forgot to check ER, PR essay after the surgery, and the surgeron did not notice it either until I asked, and her office never followed up either until one day I was screaming over the phone.... H E L L O!! I am constantly upset that I don't know if I should push them to perform and hence causing me furstration, or not push and let nature takes it course. >Now my question, I am scheduled to see the surgeon again this >Friday. I know I would need to if things had gone another way, and >they schedule just in case, but why do I need to see him now? >Especially since I am irritated that he didnt call. Two things came to my mind, may be they use that meeting with you to tell you the status. That may be a standard followup, since I don't know when you had your surgery. It could be a meeting where the surgery inquires about your overall cancer care -- if that is the reason, you have a good surgeon who does not pigeon hole him/herself into just butching up the patient and put on a blind shield right after the surgery. Another possibility is billing benefits. Are you obligated to pay to see them this round, or part of the surgery? May be you want to call the physician directly, not the darn office, to find out the reason for this appointment. You are the consumer, you have the right of a consumer. Guest guest
I would think they would have called. Although some doctors I guess feel that they will give the results at the next visit. But its not them waiting to hear something. I have been very lucky. I had a bone scan one time and my family dr called me within 2 hrs after it was taken. They can get the results over the phone and the written one later. Guest guest
I guess I've been lucky. My surgeon has always called me himself the day afterwards just to check on me, and then again when he has results...and he's operated on me at least 6 times for various and sundry things. moochie@... wrote: I would think they would have called.
