Guest guest
Hi Kathy, first be sure to sign off. we do our name, diagnosis and the year and state. This helps us to keep up with whom we are posting to.. Now, At one point i was having pain in my back also, Dr Akindipa said it was muscle spasms from the coughing.. With a lung disease I really just blame everything on it.. Who is your pulmonary Dr.? Love and Prayers, Peggy ipf 6/04 Florida " Worry looks around, Sorry looks back, Faith looks up. " Last Thursday night, I developed a sore throat. When I woke up on Friday, I had no voice and a nagging non productive cough. This remained until Tuesday when my voice came back and the cough became somewhat productive,,,,not enough to bring up though......just like from a cold. Since then, I have had the sore throat during the night only and the cough continues in the morning and evening. Last night during the night, I developed this sharp pain in my back just under my xhoulder blade.........this really hurts when I take a deep breath and also when I cough.......any ideas......i sure could use some advice. I do have IPF and I am not allowed to take any over the counter meds.........only prescription meds. Thanks and take care,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,hope you all can have an easy day

Guest guest
First of all I think you should tell your doctor that there is pain present. Pain sometimes means pneumonia. For me it usually means that I have coughed so much and so hard that muscles, etc have been pulled. I have also broken 3 ribs from coughing. The worst thing that can happen to you is pneumonia and infections. I keep antibiotics available and the doc lets me decide when I need to start them. He always tells me to err on the side of caution. I can usually judge by having hard chills, excessive exhaustion, excess mucus and sometimes but not always temperature. Don't let anything get a head start. Take care of you! Guest guest
--- > Peggy, I have not figured out how to set my signature.........guess you could say I am computer challenged. I live in Davenport......which is exit 58 on I4 towards Disney. I have a local pulmonologist which is where I took the 6 month PFT on Thursday and will meet with him next week for the results. When I go to Shands on 11/5, I guess they will assign me one up there unless they say there is nothing they can do for me. take care, and have an easy day!! Guest guest
Hey Kathy, You are about an hour and a half from me. When you go N 75 and see the Silver Springs 9 miles. I am just 14 miles from there..lol.. we gotta do lunch or whatever. I think you will like the Doctors at Shands. I love Dr Antony she is Dr. Baz's boss. I tease Dr. Akindipa about telling on him. She has been my Dr from day one there. She came in to see me and said " I'm going to be your Dr. " So I call her " My Doctor " face to face or e-mail..lol She is very special and in the PFT lab on the 6th floor you will see some of Dr Baz's patients. They all seem to just love him. Everyone at Shands is just as nice as can be. Love and Prayers, Peggy ipf 6/04 Florida " Worry looks around, Sorry looks back, Faith looks up. Guest guest
Kathy, I forgot to tell you, go to the " MAIL " on the top bar and then to preferences. You should see signatures and you just put what you want. You can always go back and change it. Love and Prayers, Peggy ipf 6/04 Florida " Worry looks around, Sorry looks back, Faith looks up.
