Not on their native diet. The *average* tooth decay was slightly higher than many of the other groups, though not nearly as high as the agricultural African groups (who were not Christianized). But Price noted that nearly every cavity was obtained during a trip out of the village and showed evidence of inactivation upon return to the village and resuming the native diet. Even if they had a higher tooth decay rate on their native diet, how would it affect the point? They were still one of the healthy groups Price studied and still had organized religion, regardless of their (low) tooth decay rate. Don't put all Christian's under this label. Biblically the death penalty is Ok. Some Christians don't like that but it's in the old testament! Historically, factually, Christian societies have not made liberal use of the death penalty. Even in the most conservative of American states, the death penalty is reserved for heinous murders. Guest guest
Yes, but Jesus was Jewish and he came to call the Isrealites back to God. When the Jews shunned him God told to go to the Gentiles. When you get into the Bible the Old Testament and New Testament fit together and the Old Testament prophesies become clear. There are several administrations in the Bible and the New Testament is the grace administration where we are saved by grace not by works. The Old Testament was the law and was done away with when Christ came which it states in the New Testament the law was their schoolmaster until Christ. In the New Testament we are to live under the law of love where the Old Testament was all by works. Anyway, there is really nothing in the New Testament that says anything about the death penalty but it is in the Old Testament. That does not mean we have to follow the Old Testament but it does not outlaw it either. Actually all the first Christians in the Bible were Jewish and all the apostles including were Jewish until was told to take the gospel to the Gentiles as I previously mentioned. My only point was that Christian societies have made less liberal use of the death penalty than many other societies, probably including the Aborigines. There is no clear prohibition of the death penalty in the Gospel, but most would take the command that " he who is without sin cast the first stone " during the attempt to lawfully put a woman to death according to the Old Testament death penalty law as an overturning of the Old Testament use of the dealth penalty, for the simple reason that no Christians would consider themselves without sin. Have all Christian societies been free of the death penalty? No. But they've generally been influenced by at least a significant humanitarian contingent that has pressured against the use of the death penalty, and I don't think it is a stretch to attribute that influence to theological and ethical views contained within the New Testament. Guest guest
lol...the O.T. was actually written in Hebrew, and the NT was Greek. And the Lord was definitely Jewish. Part of Him at least on mother's side. The God part of Him has no nationality, and for that I'm soooo glad. It's Good to Be Saved!!!!
