Guest guest
My Dr. never mentioned myomectomy. I plan on discussing it with her when I see her next time for my 3rd Lupron shot. Isn't the percentage of the fibroids growing back after myo high? Thanks for your response. On my initial visit to the Dr.she seemed to be of the opinion that the Hysterectomy is the way to go since I am bleeding every day with some days being so heavy that I change a super tampon and pad every 1/2hr. She stated that since I am 44 and don't plan on any more children that I should have the Hysterectomy and then I would solve the whole fibroid /bleeding problem. Sorry!!! , but I have a problem with this. I really wanted to try other alternatives besides the UFE or Hysterectomy now. Anyone out there have a myomectomy for larger fibroids and not have them grow back before they actually reach menopause? Fran

Continued bleeding that is heavy and every day, as you describe, after Lupron treatment can be extremely problematic and even potentially life threatening. If you want to learn more about UAE, call an IR and schedule a consult soon -- or call and ask for a referral to a gyn who will tell you more about this treatment option, as well as your myomectomy options. Please don't wait. Emergency hemorrhaging that lands you into an ER often ends with a beeline towards hysterectomy -- even with the availability of UAE to control the bleeding. Guest guest
Hi Fran, Is there a reason you didn't want to consider UAE? Also, have you had a hysteroscopic exam or saline sonogram to rule out polyps? They can also cause heavy bleeding. I had 2 and they caused alot of problems including the " gushers " Best wishes, > Has anyone experienced bleeding even after the 2nd shot of Lupron? Guest guest
Dear Fran, I strongly agree with Carla. You need to get a second opinion a.s.a.p. I had one Lupron shot in an attempt to stop bleeding. In my case the Lupron is suspected to have made the bleeding worse. It increased to such a ridiculous degree that I ended up in the ER on my way to get a second opinion. Instead of a 2nd opinion I received a blood transfusion and an emergency UAE. Moral of story: Get your 2nd opinion while you can! Please don't let yourself get too anemic. Take good care,
