Guest guest
I wonder if maybe it shouldn't take quite as long (3 hours) in children because they are smaller. Not as much area to cover as in an adult. I don't think it took Nick 3 hours, though we were there a long time by the time they got an IV in him, sedated him, etc. Then he woke up halfway through and sat up because he needed more sedation. Guest guest
Hi Again- This is Jayne or JJ (so you're right- my Dad liked Jayne Mansfield!) smile I have had a full spinal every year for the past 10 years, I have 9 tumors on my spine and Dr. Maccollin monitors them- so far no growths so I dont let myself worry too much. As for your question- the only thing I know is that they do the whole spine in 3 sections. I wrote to my Doc and asked her your question bec I want to know too. Til soon- JJ ---------------------------------------------------- > >>>> DEAR CREW, > >>>> > >>>> Louis is due to have MRi's in two weeks to check that both > >>> meningiomas are > >>>> completely excised, and he is also due to have a spinal mri . > >>>> > >>>> Now is there a " definitive " approach to cervical, thoracic and > >>> lumbar mri's, > >>>> like there is for vestibular schwannomas?? > >>>> > >>>> Do they have to be done in small sections like 3mm? > >>>> > >>>> I understand that they can miss small tumors, so I'm wondering > > how > >>> detailed > >>>> they make these mri's? > >>>> > >>>> rosemary My son just had what they called full spinal mri, it > >>> took about 3 hours and I think it was divided in the three > > sections > >>> you mentioned. Guest guest
I wish you would tell that to my neuro, bc I have the full spine and cranium in one wonderful and exciting MRI session. It's amazing how easy it becomes to count backwards from 1000, then to plan your week in advance, think of wide open spaces, and meditate while lying there in the tube for the 3 hours I lay there for. Personally, I don't mind it too much-- it's a great break from the sometimes rat race out there and time to catch a nap! Greg Hi Rosemary-I also have a full spinal every year- it takes about 3 hours, maybe 2 and a half. I have one next Saturday! This is seperate from the brain scan I have every 3-6 months they cant do them together bec it would take too long.TTYS- JJ
