Wound Care

We are looking to start a foot and ankle wound care clinic in an

outpatient setting of a small hospital. I am fortunate to have an RN

who is a Certified Wound Specialist to partner with me in this venture.

My problem is that I do not know what part(s) of wound care is

reimbursable especially under Medicare. The nurse comes from a LTC

and inpatient background and is not able to do debridement so I will

be doing this part. I know that selective (sharp) debridement is

covered as are whirlpools, but we will not be using many whirlpools

and I do not know what else is covered, I assume that dressing changes

and wound checking are not.

If anyone can provide me with a comprehensive wound care program that

is reimbursable with references I would really appreciate it. You can

email me off list if you desire. tcox@...

Best Regards,

Terry , PT, OCS
