Inpatient Medicare patients receiving trial equipment

We just had a presentation by a vendor who claimed that for our

inpatient rehab Medicare patients they can bring in equipment within

the last week of their stay for a " trial, " then upon discharge drop the

bill (Medicare B). We have been eating the cost on the majority of such

items (e.g., splints, braces) given during their stay. It seems a

little gray...any experience with this?
