Guest guest
Hi , Australia now has four airlines! In the last couple of months Virgin Blue and Compass have started here and have made a bit of an impact with the Big Two airlines, but as far as I can tell this is mostly confined to price cuts for flying on the east coast, as long as you book on the internet, fly between midnight and 12.05 a.m., on a day with a z in it, and only if you ask nicely. I live in Melbourne (that's the south-east corner, sort of) and it is cheaper to have an all expenses paid week in Bali than to fly to Perth on the west coast, and I just mean airfares here. This is why people travel by train. Australia has a population of about 20 million spread over an area roughly the size of the U.S.A., so we simply don't have the population to support industries such as airlines. This is what they tell us in our cradles anyway. Georgia, contemplating hitching to Perth
