I am trying to make up for the lost doses but now I need to make

Okey dokey - I am sending this off tonight (thanks for the email addy)

Hi,

I was wondering if you have any status on Thyrolar. When will it be

available?

Do you know how the change in manufacturing process will affect the

medication? I've heard that it might not need to be refrigerated

anymore. Or it might take longer to dissolve.

I also heard a rumour that Thyrolar might not be entirely synthetic.

A pharmacist found a moldy bottle of some and said it smelled like

meat.

I can't wait for it to come back. Is there any way Forest can compile

a mailing list so that when it becomes available we can get an email

directly from Forest with the specifics?

Thanks

Louise

I just spoke to Daryl Wesche at Forest this morning. He said that modernizing the (1950s) equipment was their main purpose in the changes. He confirms that the formula is not being changed. He said that they are attempting to improve the stability so that it will not need to be refrigerated, but they do not know for sure that they will be able to do this.

He says that the projected time for finishing the process is September with the product being in pharmacies in October.

I did not address the other issues.

He is no longer allowed to answer specific email questions, but only to send one of their standard replies. If you want more info than that, you need to send him your phone number.

I like the idea of a mailing list.

Thanks Jan,

I got this reply from Forest:

Dear Inquirer,

Thank you for your email. In order to receive the information you are

requesting, please contact one of our pharmacists in the Drug

Information department at 1- ext 7301.

thank you,

Professional Affairs Department

Forest Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

So I guess that means that Thyrolar has been around since the 50's. I

can't wait for it to come back. (And of course the blood test

afterwards.)
