They keep pushing back the dates... they must be having a heck of a time getting that stability thing working. I understand that they are trying to change the formulation so that it doesn't need refrigeration anymore.....

But, like you said, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Now.. don't get me wrong, this question stems from my never ending curiosity.... why do you choose to stay with Thyrolar? I know there are quite a few loyals here... Is it loyalty to the product that finally worked for you... fear to try something different?

I know, for me... it was horribly hard for me to work up the courage to change things, be it thyroid brands.. or types (like changing to natural). Heck, I'm so bad that I don't even like to change brands of vitamins.... So... are you like me... just don't like to fix it if it ain't broken and stay with what you know does the job for you?

thyroid meds and he said he liked Thyrolar. So I went to my Dr and

she agreed to prescribe it because I felt no different. When I went

to the pharmacy they gave me Armour because they would have to

special order Thyrolar. No I want Thyrolar so I started taking it and

felt different. Even my PMS depression is gone. And I am starting to

work on my house so I can move. My allergies are gone.

I know I could take Armour but I donate to animal charities and don't

eat much meat so for me synthetic is the best choice.

I have decided that if I run out of meds I will probably take

unithroid and cytomel. (Stating far away from $inthroid, levoxyl and

levothroid.)

Interesting. I'm fascinated by the choice processes people take. I guess it's to better understand myself and how I come to decisions.

How do your labs look? Are you perhaps a poor converter and that it's the T3 in the thyrolar that made that difference for you?

The animal product issue, for me.... if the animals were raised only for the glands... I'd have a problem with that... like animals being raised only for fur, in inhumane conditions. I add that because we used to raise chinchillas. Those animals were sooo pampered here. But seeing some fur ranches and how the animals are treated.... makes me want to go postal!

Natural thyroid, being harvested from animals that are already being used for multiple purposes, for me, adds greater purpose to their being. It's all a personal choice, I know.

tsh .18 (0.40 - 5.5)

free t3 244 (230 - 420)

t4, free direct dialysis 1.1 (0.8 - 2.7)

I know on the low end for the frees.

And it could be the higher % of T3.

I'm confused. I thought that with a TSH of .18 that you were very hyper? So

why would you take more meds.

When on thyroid meds, a suppressed TSH does not necessarily mean you are hyper. If it did, you would see thyroid cancer patients bouncing off the walls, since we are required to keep our TSH below 0.1. The fact is that thyroid cancer patients are often the only ones who may be adequately medicated by the establishment docs.

The Free T3 and Free T4 are much more important. If they are in range and you have no hyper symptoms, then you are not hyper.melissa wrote:

I'm confused. I thought that with a TSH of .18 that you were very hyper? Sowhy would you take more meds.

When on thyroid meds, a suppressed TSH does not necessarily mean you are hyper. If it did, you would see thyroid cancer patients bouncing off the walls, since we are required to keep our TSH below 0.1. The fact is that thyroid cancer patients are often the only ones who may be adequately medicated by the establishment docs.

The Free T3 and Free T4 are much more important. If they are in range and you have no hyper symptoms, then you are not hyper.melissa wrote:

Once you are diagnosed the TSH is uselss. You should really go by the

frees and how you feel. I also have Hashi's so the antibodies will

throw the numbers off as well.
