Well this isn't a hoax, I got the SEXY VIRGIN virus last night my time. ( also known as W95.Hybris.Gen.dr virus )

OK so I can see you all laughing HAHAHA but this was scary !

Norton isolated the virus but it still came up in my mail box.

I didn't open the mail or the attachment, yet it still infected the computer.

Reason for this seems partially due to the fact that I use a system restore program on windows ME and these COPIES or RESTORE points became infected also.

The virus infects EXE. files.

This came in one of those win 30 million dollars guaranteed type Emails that we all just delete.

All gone now after I realised what these files were and removed them all.

Talk about a BAD nights sleep...

Wow marcus this is scary! I seldom open attachments or even download, cause I am such a computer nerd if something goes wrong I will never be able to fix it; yet are you indicating this is something that could attack your computer, ANYHOW, or is that only because of the special programs/set up that you had on yours? marie

Marie the fact I didn't open the mail and still got hit was weird. Norton deleted the original file no problems but the SYSTEM RESTORE program makes check points of your files and it got into these . This is a standard program on the new Windows Millennium edition , so maybe this is a unforseen fault. Norton could not access these files to remove them but was able to detect that they were corrupt.

Confused ??? ME too

That would be more or less correct Marie. The Norton would stop it when it first arrived . I have no idea how the mail got into the mail box when Norton scans the mail OUTSIDE of the mail box. Very strange. Anyway it was the multiple system files that I didnt understand until I lay awake in bed for 8 hrs. Amazing how clear things become through bloodshot eyes .

Marcus,

You should probably contact Microsoft and Norton about what happened

with this virus. They may not be aware of this problem yet.

BTW,

For anyone considering switching to WindowsME from Win98, in a word don't.

If you are buying a new computer, ask that they put Win98SE on it rather

than WinME. ME is a way more buggy, and highly less functional OS than 95/98

ever was (IMNSHO). Microsoft basically rushed this thing out the door WAY

before it was ready to go. They've got another one in the works for home

users coming out again fairly soon that should be better.
