Guest guest
I saw the posts on hair loss..I have lost at least half the thickness in my hair in the last 6 months. I don't know if diabetes has anything to do with it or not but it's pretty scary. I'm not taking hormones or any drugs that have hair loss as a side effect. Maybe it's another one of the perks of getting " older " .
Guest guest
I have thick but fine hair and after I started thyroid hormone and had been on it for about 6 months, my hairdresser noticed that I had bunches of little spikes of new hair comming in. So, for me thyroid treatment gave me hair I didn't know I had. Tish

The hair loss is called telogenic effluvium and happens when the hairs are shocked by something-eg pregnancy, going on the pill, hormonal disorders , infection , changing diet becoming hypothyroid will have that effect too and its possible that starting armour will speed up the loss of hair that has already gone into the resting phase due to lack of thyroid hormone -because it is providing a better environment for normal hair growth. You should see new growth fairly soon after losing the bulk of the hair - probably about 3 months to see some changes http://my.webmd.com/content/article/7/1680_54066?src=pemedscape -- Best regards, Alison http://www.alisonashwell.com mailto:alison.ashwell@... new work uploaded http://www.voodoochilli.net/artists/alisonashwell/

Guest guest
Thanks, Alison, I wish I'd known that years ago... I was getting a little panicked. I have male pattern baldness on both sides of the family.. I'd grown up with the understanding that in that case the female children could also be bald..... My brother was losing his hair by the time he hit is 20s! So when I started losing hair I never dreamed it was thyroid related.. I assumed it was my genetics....
