Guest guest
There's a lot of fiber in an orange segment that doesn't raise BGs even though the juice in the segment will. Guest guest
Me too Ruth. I CANNOT drink orange juice but I can eat a small-medium size orange and I handle it ok. I don't get it either. But it isn't too bad for me cause I'm not all that crazy about orange juice any way. I just used to drink it cause I was told it was good for me. Kim >I find orange juice does exactly the same to me. It takes several oranges to make a small glass, so I imagine that's why. Sandy

Thanks. **Because the whole fruit has more fiber in it, and you can subtract the fiber grams from the carb grams. Fiber reduces the blood sugar raising effect of the carbs somehow. I'm not a scientist, so I don't exactly know how, but it works. Barb

Guest guest
if there's one thing i've learned, its that the more processed something is the worse it is for us as diabetics. Therfore the comparison of the Baked potatoe to the mashed potatoes and the Orange to the orange juice. the easeier it is to go thru the system the fast it raises the BG. rebecca -- Look at a stone cutter hammering away at his rock, perhaps a hundred times without as much as a crack showing in it. Yet at the hundred-and-first blow it will split in two, and I know it was not the last blow that did it, but all that had gone before. -- A.
