Guest guest
Thanks for sending copy of the food journal in excel. That's an excellent way to keep a food journal. I've been kind of playing with Excel, but haven't mastered it real good yet. That looks pretty easy to set up though so I may try doing that too. Guest guest
Barbara, I hope the excel food journal works out good for you - - - I started keeping my food journal on the computer in January of last year - - I just would not take time to write it down on a piece of paper, and if I did it was so messy you couldn't read it; since I am at the computer off and on through the day, this just seemed the easiest way for me. We turn in our journal each week to the weight recorder in order to get our "Fat Bucks", and it is easy to print off each week. And I am going to use the idea that somebody told us about - drawing one of the food journals for some kind of prize each week. I think that would be a really good incentive for people to keep a journal. YOU JUST HAVE TO KEEP SOMETHING GOING ALL THE TIME TO KEEP PEOPLE INVOLVED AND INTERESTED! Guest guest
Clara, we have a drawing for the ones that bring in a food chart, .50 for any calorie chart, .50 for a calorie chart with a loss and if no one wins it rides until it does and then .50 for staying for meeting. We do have a pretty good turn out with the calorie charts. Guest guest
YOU JUST HAVE TO KEEP SOMETHING GOING ALL THE TIME TO KEEP PEOPLE INVOLVED AND INTERESTED! AMEN to this! We had 8 people to weigh in today...and 6 stayed for the meeting (2 members and 4 officers). I passed a calendar around and asked them to please sign up to give a program and/or help find a guest speaker etc. The calendar came back to me "blank". One excuse I heard today was "I'm just not in the mood right now to give a program". What does your chapter do when no one is willing to give programs? This is a small chapter (14 members). I have been Leader now 3 years of this chapter and 5 years previously at an evening chapter. Needless to say I am tired. Barbara

Guest guest
Helon, I don't know how to convert the food chart to any other format that you could keep and use on your computer. I could send you a hard copy to write on, but that would be just like keeping any other hand written food chart!! Sorry I'm not more "savvy" on how to convert stuff! I have lived by EXCEL for years - at work and at home - and that's about all I know. ((((HUGS)))) Clara No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. Guest guest
Barbara, one thing our chapter does to get people to do a program is include it in a contest; give extra points for doing a program! If people won't volunteer, put everybody's name in a cup - and draw names until each member is assigned a date for a program. If you have kept all of the programs that are mailed out by headquarters, tell them that there are a hundred programs to choose from! I keep mine in a tote bag that people can take home with them and have the whole week to go through and choose something. And share the fact that you are tired of doing everything yourself - that if you can't get some cooperation that you won't be running for leader next year! In fact, it's time to start thinking about election of officers anyway! Remind them that giving a program a few times a year is nothing compared to being leader for 52 week every year - and who is interested in running for leader??? It's hard to build a fire under a bunch of dead heads!! It would be nice if Melody could visit all of our chapters and build that fire with your "boundless enthusiasm"!! Guest guest
Clara, that is okay....I'm hoping to get my computer updated in the near future and then I'll have an excel program on it. When I do I'll get in touch with you and you can send it to me privately. I've got XP on it right now, but I got the home edtion and it did not come with any of the MS Works programs on it at all. My youngest son said that as soon as he can he is going to come up and put the MS Works on it for me.
