Guest guest
Jackie! I'm sitting here giggling because our grandparents used to give us the "we had to walk 5 miles to school" speech......funny thing is - my grandpa REALLY DID! My aunt took me to their old homestead and to see the family mill and where my grandpa went to school - it was really cool to see.....and when we drove from their old house to the school I was thinking 'wow....he really did have to walk a long way" it was something like 8 miles into where the school was I guess when he got older he bought a horse and rode that to school.....kinda neat to learn all this stuff <G> When I was growing up we used to go camping at the river every weekend and I HATED that outhouse! Nothing freaks ya out more than sitting down on that seat and having a grand-daddy long legs come up and tickle yer butt! LOL (not to mention having to shake the shoes out before you could even GO to the outhouse to make sure scorpions didn't crawl in there while we were sleeping) ugh! don't miss those days AT ALL!! If I miss a meeting, by the second week I feel like it has been months since I saw all of my TOPS pals. However, I miss very few meetings - - but then I'm only a few city blocks from where the meetings are held, so I could walk if I weren't so lazy. No, I always have a hundred pounds of stuff to take to the meeting since I am treasurer this year - - it's 200 when I'm leader! LOL Congrats on your hubby's new job - - - sure glad to know you'll be able to buy toilet tissue! I can remember (telling my age here) when I was a kid that we went to an outhouse and used pages from catalogs & magazines for toilet tissue!! We also had kerosene lamps for light and an oil burning stove in our living room - the only room in the house that was heated! So don't talk to me about "The good old days"!! HA! Maybe that's why I don't care about camping out! I can really appreciate the "conveniences" that we now have! Now who's rattling???
