Good for you, Jacky. You may well get down to 6.0 in a couple more days!

When you do get your appointment, don't be suprised if they advocate the ADA

high carb, low fat way of eating for you. I know it doesn't work for quite

a few people, and there are some amazing stories in our Success Stories

about how sick people got trying to follow it. Some do alright though: eat

and test, eat and test is the only way to learn.

Hi Barb,

I have been doing some research into this center and it is getting a

good rating. The head dr. is young and up to date. he gives his

patients copies of the latest journals and promotes patient control.

I have a question. Is it normal for it to take a while to get the level

down? or will I have to drop more carbs to do it?

Thanks

Jacky

***Maybe a bit of both. Some, including myself, have found that it's

necessary to really lower the carbs in the beginning and, once in good

control (6.0 or less), you can start adding them back, test, test, test and

keep good notes. Diabetes is a self managed disease and so individual that

no one can really say what will or won't work for you. Less carbs and more

exercise are always good choices until you find what works for you. But you

have an excellent chance of managing it without meds and maintain good

control.

Also, it's my belief, that our bodies take awhile to adjust to anything

new - exercise, food, etc. I know when I " splurge " occasionally or forget

my nighttime insulin (don't take much), nothing much happens just once, and

if I make a big change on a regular basis it will take a few days to see it.

Barb, who'd love to see others on the list join in here :-)

I'll join in except I don't have anything to add to what you said, Barb, you

said it quite well. Vicki
