Guest guest
Hi Jacky. My husband Monte went on Metformin a few months ago and the results have been wonderful. And he has had NO gastric problems. He takes 2/day, one in morning, one in evening. When he was controlling his BG's with diet and exercise alone, he was also losing way too much weight!! He couldn't handle hardly any carbs, and the high protein diet was becoming so restricting. SInce starting Metformin, he is now able to handle a little more carbs, especially at night, and he is putting some weight back on. We are talking about a guy who went from 185 lbs. (6' tall) down to 150 lbs. Now he is up to at least 155 since he can handle more foods. Ironically, Metformin can decrease your appetite, but because he can handle a little more carbs in his diet, he eats more of them. (That doesn't include 2 pieces of white bread on a sandwich--he still can't do the white foods, but it does include one small piece of bread with the evening meal, for example, or more fruits, etc. Also, Metformin looked impressive to us because it stimulates the insulin to do it's job better, unlike some of the other which work directly on the pancreas and beta cells, which could ultimately exhaust the beta cells over time.
