Guest guest
I have just joined this group. I was diagnosed on Thursday so you can see how new at this I am. I have a lot to learn. I have fibromyalgia, peripheral neurophy and a few other things along that line. I live in San , Texas and will probably read more than I post for a while since I am new at this whole thing. Take care, Irene Books may well be the only true magic Alice Hoffman

At the bottom of each message is the url for our shared files. There are many success stories, recipes and all around good information. 2. I strongly suggest you get a copy of " Dr. Bernstein's Diabetes Solution " , some of which can be found at http://www.diabetes-normalsugars.com and " The First Year: :Type 2 Diabetes, An Essential Guide for the Newly Diagnosed " by Gretchen Becker, which I know is at Amazon.com and maybe at bookstores. It's pretty new, and really excellent. 3. Use are get a blood glucose meter frequently, so you know how what you eat affects your blood sugar. I suggest taking a reading first thing int he morning, fasting (this gives you an idea of your overall control from the day before, before and 1-2 hours after each meal, which will tell you how the foods you eat raise or don't raise your blood sugar, and before going to bed. A lot of us achieved good control within a few days when we cut out all the high glycemic starches that really spike our blood sugar, such as: rice, pasta, potatoes, breads, cereals and grains. Eating low starch green vegetables and meat, poultry, fish and cheese should bring your blood sugar into much better control, which will help you feel a whole lot better. 4. Start (slowly) an excercise program. Excercise is extremely beneficial in lowering blood sugar. Questions? Ask away :-) Barb
Guest guest
---Welcome, Irene!!!! You will learn a lot from this group! BTW, my son will be in San for basic training! We were there many years ago to visit when we were stationed outside of Austin. The people were incredibly friendly and I assume still are!! Ask questions, that's the way we all learn, so hope you will post often! Madge In diabetes_int@y..., patidu@a... wrote: > I have just joined this group.
