Guest guest
All this talk about how diabetics should be on ACE inhibitors to protect their kidneys got me thinking. I was having really terrible migraine problems for years, and the doctor was going to put me on an ACE inhibitor for migraine prophylaxis, until he saw I was asthmatic (contraindicated), so he put me on a calcium channel blocker instead (plus Depakote), which has helped immensely. Does anyone know if the calcium channel blocker protects diabetic kidneys the way the ACE inhibitor does? My blood pressure has always been great, except for the year or so before I was diagnosed as a diabetic (and even then, it was only borderline high). Once I got my HbA1c down below 6, my blood pressure went back to being 102/68 or thereabouts. Oh, and I'm a Type II (NIDDM). Is it only Type I's that need the ACE inhibitor, or all of us? Inquiring minds want to know! -- el (andrea@..., andrea_frankel@...) Nevada City, CA, USA " ...wake now! Discover that you are the song that the morning brings...
