Guest guest
Just my experience but worth passing on: After taking HRT for 8 years, I stopped 2 years ago even though all the nasty post-meno symptoms raged on. At that same time, I had my first DEXA which was fine. I just got the detailed results of my DEXA from last month which indicate a rapid rate of bone loss that has put me in the " osteopenia " category. I take the optimal 1800mg. calcium divided into 3 600mg (max.the body can absorb at one time according to my doc at Cleveland Clinic) and my exercise regimen is consistently vigorous. THIS IS NOT ENOUGH FOR ME! ******* The recommendation for me is as follows: given that the pt has eliminated estrogen supplementation, it is advised that she immediately be placed on a calcium reabsorption program (i.e. fosamax, etc.) and have another DEXA in 2 years to re- evaluate her condition. ******* I WILL NOT take fosamax, etc. but I also will not knowingly sprint to full blown osteoporosis. My decision is to resume NATURAL HRT (Climara & Prometrium) with the intention of preventing further bone loss and hopefully regaining some ground. ******* On a positive note, after 5 months on Armour, my cholesterol dropped 40+ points. Sorry to be so long, but this is something those of you who have a family history of osteoporosis can keep in mind. Please, at least thoroughly research the calcium reabsorption drugs before taking them. Be well. ~see (3gr.Armour/day)
Guest guest
See, Were you taking magnesium and vit D along with the calcium. I think you probably were, but just wanted to check. Also, are you taking your Armour sublingually? Guest guest
Don't forget the magnesium. It must be in balance with the calcium, or all that calcium runs rampant, doing some bad things, if unbridled. That's what those Calcium Channel Blocking Blood Pressure Meds are all about, because the electrical rhythym of the heart is involved in this. Magnesium is a powerful additive in the grand scheme of this. hormones - between rock & hard place > Just my experience but worth passing on: > > After taking HRT for 8 years, I stopped 2 years ago even though all > the nasty post-meno symptoms raged on.
