Hi there. I just wanted to let you all know my mom had her surgery

about 3 weeks ago. I was wondering what are some good things to be

concerned about for when beginning chemo. My mom sees the chemo dr on

Thursday and I was wondering what kind of questions should I ask her?

Thanks.

I would ask about side effects from the chemo, how often she will be getting

it, ask about anti nausea meds in case she gets sick. What reactions to

watch for. How it will be given, pill form, IV, IV drip. Who will give the

treatments. Can she take any of her other meds with the chemo treatments.Any

precautions to be taken? Cost, can she drive hersrlf to treatments if

necessary. I am sure the ladies will come up with somemore questions. I will

keep your Mom in my prayers.

Hi Melika--

I think others have provided most of the questions. Let me add---

Think about a port, it made getting chemo more pleasant.

I got anti-nausea medicine with the chemo and three different kinds

for home and I used them. Ask about these because you can get the

prescriptions filled beforehand.

I did ask how soon I could go back to work. It varies with everyone.

You have to watch your mom's temperature because the white blood cell

count will go down and she will be vulnerable to infection.

Fatique may be a problem. Ask about white and red blood cell booster

shots.

Take care, Marsha
