Guest guest
International Workshop on Defining the Future: HIV/AIDS-Next 25 Years An event to mark the 25 years of documenting the first case of HIV December 18-20, 2006 University of Hyderabad Introduction 2006 marks the 25 years since the first cases of AIDS were reported by CDC/US. During the two decades, we have learnt a great deal about viral Pathogenesis, host-HIV Interactions, and immune responses to infection! The discovery from AZT to the fusion inhibitors and then to the Integrases has heralded the hope to the infected individuals by turning it into a chronic disease from a terminal one. There is no hope to all infected with HIV-Global impact with Global Hope!. In spite of the progress of 25 years there are individuals and communities that are untouched by these developments and many are unaware of their serostatus. The preventive strategies of today are required to be Recast to suit to the local situation, culture and tradition. The universal Access to ARVs is far from reality and the PLHA dreams are yet to be Realized! The children with HIV are deprived of these magic bullets. Advocacy that paved way for many innovations seem to be on " life Support " in many parts of the world as the true advocates have joined the Establishment! We believe that there is a need for the young professionals to be aware of the past and define the future.
